Late-night talk shows rarely receive the much-sought after timeslots, but CBS has trusted their two brand new presenters with the task.
The network revealed on Wednesday (November 11th) that Colbert’s ‘The Late Show’ would broadcast live with a one-hour special after the fiftieth edition of the NFL showcase finishes on February 7th, 2016. It was also announced that James Corden, who has the programming timeslot directly after Colbert with ‘The Late Late Show’, will be getting the chance to broadcast a special edition of his show after the local news.

James Corden is already a big name in the U.K., but this coming March the 36-year-old star will be introducing himself to an American audience when he takes over from Craig Ferguson as the host of CBS' 'Late Late Show.'

The much-loved presenter brings the curtain down on 32 years of late night TV on May 20th next year.
Attention late night TV lovers: here’s a date to put in your diaries. After months of speculation, CBS has confirmed that David Letterman’s final show as host of ‘The Late Show’ on May 20th next year.
Farewell: Letterman's final episode as host of 'The Late Show' after 32 years will be May 20th.
The 67 year old will bring to an end his 32 year reign on that day. Assuming that he doesn’t miss any shows until then, his last performance of ‘The Late Show’ (and its previous iteration on NBC, ‘Late Night’) will be his 6,028th.

The 40 year-old actress will return to the network for a guest appearance in a Christmas-themed episode.
Alyson Hannigan will be making a return to the network that made her a sitcom star in 'How I Met Your Mother' as she has landed a guest-starring role in CBS's newest comedy 'The McCarthys,' set to air in December.
Hannigan will return to CBS for a guest appearance in 'The McCarthys'

The network announces its plan less than 24 hours after HBO says it will roll out a similar service in 2015.
The business world sure moves quickly. Less than a day after HBO told the world that they were to roll out a digital subscription service for their programming, rival network CBS made a similar announcement on Thursday for a ‘CBS All Access’ service independent of cable.
CBS programming, such as the recently ended 'How I Met Your Mother', may be available digitally
CBS stated that, for $5.99 a month, subscribers will get access to fifteen primetime shows the day after they are shown on broadcast and cable television. In some of their bigger markets – i.e., the big cities – they will also get access to live streaming of that content.

The Tony Award-winning actor/comedian is making his biggest stateside move yet
The move represents a sizable boost for Corden’s career. He broke onto the scene with his performance in Alan Bennett’s The History Boys, playing the character of Timms. But it wouldn’t be until Gavin and Stacey, on which his character of Smithy endeared so many, that Corden would permeate the zeitgeist of celebrity.

Finally, we meet the mother. Spoilers.
We got a glimpse of the titular and enigmatic mother from How I Met Your Mother at the end of season eight: a woman yielding a yellow umbrella. But it wasn’t until the very end of the show’s one-hour season nine premiere that we got a real look at her.
Neil Patrick Harris - will his wedding get ruined?
Enter Cristin Milioti. The still nameless mother managed to cheer up a distraught Lily by offering up some ‘sumbitch’ cookies. Lily and her got on like a house on fire, and after having a big ol’ chat about Ted, it’s exciting to know that the unlucky-in-love ‘I’ in ‘How I…’ will finally be meeting his future wife.
Spencer Clawson has hit rock bottom, as has Big Brother.
It's time that Big Brother packed its bags and left the television schedules for good. You've been evicted Big Brother - now you must leave.
The fifteenth series has quickly earned the tag of the most controversial season yet and not for any particularly entertaining reason. We've already heard racial and homophobic slurs during the show's 24-hour live feeds and on Monday (August 5, 2013), contestant Spencer Clawson made some comments so idiotic, so appalling that it's becoming increasingly hard to justify putting 20 knuckleheads in a big room, not giving them much to eat or drink and forcing them to vote against each other.
This week, live-feed watchers watched in disgust as Spencer said - and we kid you not. "I like to beat off to child porn. Did I ever tell y'all about that? I love it. Beating off to child porn is my favorite thing there is."

Despite the money, de Pablo is out
CBS' presentation at the Television Critics Association centred around one thing, and one thing only: the exit of Cote de Pablo from their hit show NCIS. de Pablo plays Ziva David in the fast moving crime drama, and her exit would be a huge loss for the fans and the show itself, such is her popularity. She’s leaving, but not without CBS throwing a bucket of cash over her head first.
Cote de Pablo has decided to move on
“I really want to clarify," CBS Corp CEO Les Moonves said, "we offered Cote de Pablo a lot of money, and then we offered her even more money because we really didn’t want to lose her. We love her. We think she was she was terrific." (HitFix)

Angus T. Jones is being replaced with a new leading lady.
CBS are on the hunt for a young actress to play Charlie Sheen's lesbian daughter on Two and a Half Men. Ok, so Sheen left the show some time ago, but the comedy will introduce the "sexy and gorgeous" estranged 21-year-old daughter of Charlie Harper for its 11th season.
The news was confirmed to Entertainment Weekly, with a source saying Charlie's daughter will have recently moved to Los Angeles from New York. The character will effectively replace Jake, played by Angus T. Jones, who will cut down his appearances on the show to focus on attending college.
That's the official line coming out of CBS, though it's clear Jones' role on America's biggest sitcom became untenable after he actively encouraged fans to stop watching the show before of its adult themes.

Networks are almost ready to announce their fall lineups, but will big hitters like 'Touch' survive?
Crime drama CSI NY, Matthew Perry's 'Go On' and Fox's 'Touch,' starring Kiefer Sutherland are amongst the television shows in danger of being cancelled when the networks announce their fall line-ups in the coming weeks. The clock is very much ticking, and it's getting louder with every passing second.
It's a familiar Hollywood plot, with actors, producers, writers and directors waiting nervously to hear whether their shows have made it onto the fall line-ups. If the ratings are not there, the show disappears. Simple. NBC unveils its plans on Sunday May 12, while Fox announce on Monday, ABC Tuesday and CBS on Wednesday. CW fans have to wait until Thursday for that announcement.
As reported by the Plain Dealer, we already know that Animal Practice, Made in Jersey, Last Resort and The Mob Doctor are getting in, though there are several more high profile shows that are in danger of being handed a pink slip. They include the CBS crime dramas CSI:NY and Criminal Minds. Ratings suggest the latter might survive, but CSI looks to be a goner. A year ago, it was suggested that NY might get cancelled and CSI: Miami could survive though the reverse happened.
