Pharrell Williams is to replace The Voice's outgoing coach, Cee Lo Green, who recently announced that he's be stepping away from NBC's talent contest to focus on his own musical career. Williams, who served as a guest mentor to Usher's team in season four, will replace the longtime judging on the singing competition's upcoming seventh season. The show's Twitter feed broke the news on Monday and quickly received an outpouring of excitement as fans spread the word.

The last year has seen the 40 year-old pop star on a high: he collaborated on last year's top two songs of the summer, 'Blurred Lines' and 'Get Lucky,' has worked on the Amazing Spider-Man 2 score alongside Hans Zimmer and received an Oscar nomination for his chart-smashing Despicable Me 2 song, 'Happy.'

What Is Cee Lo Green Doing This Year Instead Of "The Voice"?

Cee-Lo Green Lionel Richie

The Voice might just be taking cues from American Idol and is changing its lineup. Yesterday judge Cee Lo Green, of Gnarls Barkley fame, announced that he would be departing the NBC competition. For anyone, who’s still enjoying the judge/music producer’s presence, fret not, it sounds like we’re going to be seeing more of him this year. At least that’s what Green told Ellen Degeneres in an interview on Wednesday.

"I’m going to continue my relationship with NBC. I have a television show development deal with them as well and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year," Green told Ellen. "But yeah, I’m going to miss The Voice, too."

And The Winner OF 'The Voice' Season Five Is...

Adam Levine Christina Aguilera Cee-Lo Green Blake Shelton Shakira

The final standings for season five finale of The Voice featured two of Adam Levine's acts, with Will Champlin and Tessanne Chin representing the Maroon 5 singer, and Christina Aguilera's 16-year-old protege Jacquie Lee. After 13 weeks of hard fought contest, the three became two and then two became one, as Tessanne Chin was crowned the newest winner of NBC's singing contest.

Adam LevineChristina Aguilera
Levine scored his second win in the contest, whilst Christina will have to wait a while longer

It was a second win for Levine as a judge and few could begrudge Chin for winning the contest after 13 solid weeks of top quality performances. On Tuesday (17 Dec.) night the Jamaica-born singer was picked ahead of Champlin, who placed third, and Lee, who came second, not just based on votes from the American public, but on her merit as an artist, as seen throughout the latest season. The final votes took into consideration the contestant's success on iTunes and other fields away from the show, and it was Chin who was the clear favourite to win from the get-go.

No One Is A Favourite To Leave 'The Voice' As We Reach The Top Ten

Christina Aguilera Adam Levine Cee-Lo Green Blake Shelton

Last night (18 Nov.) on NBC, we came no closer to discovering who might be the first contestant to be booted out of the Top Ten on The Voice, after all of the remaining performers gave it their all and performed to their best. With Team Blake and Team Adam still sitting pretty with all three contestants, and with Team Christina and Team CeeLo having lost one each, the race was still wide open, as the closely-fought contest showed how much fight was left in the contestants. The rest of this story contains spoilers from last nights episode.

Up first was Austin Jenckes, singing 'Your Love' by The Outfield. Still in need of finding his "breakout song," Jenckes seemed to do just that on last nights episode, as all of the judges were left thoroughly impressed by the singer as he finally came into his own. Both Blake and Christina were left impressed by the build of the song and although Adam was critical of Austin's lack of range on the song, the overall response was purely positive.

CeeLo Green Didn't Rape Anyone. Prosecutors Turn Attention To Ecstasy.

Cee-Lo Green

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office formally rejected felony rape charge against the Forget You singer CeeLo Green this week. However, prosecutors are accusing The Voice judge of furnishing the woman in question with ecstasy.

Green, whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, pleaded not guilty to the charge in a Los Angeles courtroom on Monday afternoon (October 21, 2013), however, if found guilty old CeeLo faces four years in prison, reports the New York Daily News.

The singer wore a knee-length black crochet jacket as he stood beside defense lawyer Blair Berk in court and told the judge he understood he could be taken into custody if he failed to post $30,000 bail.

Cee-Lo Green Cleared Of Sexual Assault Felony, But Still Faces Charges For Ecstasy Possession

Cee-Lo Green

Cee-Lo Green was cleared by the Los Angeles County District Attorney of charges that he had sexually assaulted a woman after allegedly slipping a drug into her drink. The singer and The Voice judge hasn't got off completely scott free however, as he will still face charges of possession of ecstasy, TMZ reported on Monday, 21 October.

Cee-Lo Green
Cee-Lo will face only minor repercussions for his drug charge

Sources speaking to the gossip site confirmed that Cee-Lo was cleared of the assault charge in a L.A. court on Monday morning. The Voice judge was accused of spiking her drink with ecstasy whilst they ate at a sushi restaurant in L.A. last year, when she claims she woke up naked in his bed with no knowledge of what had happened before hand. After deeming her claims to be unreliable and inconsistent, her criminal case against the singer was dropped, with the D.A. finding particular inconsistencies in the woman's remarks over how long she had known Cee-Lo. The main problem with the story was that the woman claimed to have been relatively unfamiliar with the singer when the alleged incident took place, however it was later discovered that the pair had been dating for some months prior to the alleged events and had already been intimate.

CeeLo Green Won't Face Sexual Abuse Charges, But Singer Will Be Charged With Possession Of Ecstasy

Cee-Lo Green

It’s all looking reasonably rosy for CeeLo Green. We say rosy because TMZ have reported that he won’t face charges for sexual assault.

We say reasonably, though, because the same site has reported that he will, indeed, face charges for carrying ecstasy.

The original sexual abuse charge was brought about after a woman told the cops her and CeeLo had gone to a sushi place, he’d slipped her ecstasy, and she ended up totally naked in his bed, not really remembering what happened. The D.A, though, according to TMZ’s sources, will reject those charges, but will pursue charging Green with the felony of furnishing ecstasy.

'The Voice' Returns: But Where Are All The Superstars?

Christina Aguilera Adam Levine Cee-Lo Green Carson Daly Simon Cowell

Get ready to settle down in your favorite chair with a little pile of peanuts because The Voice is on its way back for a fifth series. Judges Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green, Adam Levine and Carson Daly took to the stage on Saturday evening (July 27, 2013) for the Summer TCA press tour, reports E! Online.

Aguilera took a season off last time out to focus on her latest album, though she was in good form at the panel event over the weekend. "Well I understand that I am coming back to the Blake Shelton show at this point," she joked, referencing the country star's three victories out of the past four cycles.

Though The Voice has been praised for its refreshing take on the stale reality singing show format, it's no secret that the show is yet to produce a real 'superstar.' With Simon Cowell bolstering his X-Factor line-up, are the judges feeling the heat?

Christina Aguilera On Her Break From 'The Voice', Family Life And Show-Biz Pressures

Christina Aguilera Cee-Lo Green Adam Levine Blake Shelton

Christina Aguilera explained why she decided to take a season off from the televised singing competition The Voice. The singer stated it was due to her family commitments and the pressures of constantly living in the public eye. She spoke to the press at the NBC segment of the Television Critics Association Summer Tour, held in Beverly Hills.

The New York native has been appearing on television since she was ten years old. Understandably, constant media attention for the majority of her life has left her wary of the strains it can place on family life. She has one son, Max, about who she said "he starts kindergarten this fall, I'm excited about that". She also discussed her dual role as pop star in public and mother at home: "the cameras go off, I go home, I put on sweats and a T-shirt. The red lips come off. I check out and I'm mom and I needed some time, I needed some time to do that".

Rod Stewart, T.I. And Cee Lo Green To Hit The Voice In May

Rod Stewart Cee-Lo Green T.I

It’s not just wannabe talents performing on The Voice, you know, bona fide singers hit the stage too. Next up, in May, arrive Rod Steward, T.I and Cee Lo Green to show the contestants how it’s done. Lady Antebellum, Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams will also perform in May.

Green has been a part of The Voice for a while now, having coached on it for the first three seasons. He’s just finished his stint in the desert, performing in Loberace in Las Vegas, and will hit the crowd with Only You from his forthcoming new solo album Girl Power, set for a late 2013 release. Stewart and Green will perform on the May 8 episode, while Grammy-winning country-pop trio Lady Antebellum will promote their forthcoming album "Golden" on the May 14 episode. Pharrell Williams and rapper T.I. will all perform on the May 14 episode. Rod Stewart has been rumoured to judge on a number of talent shows, so his proximity to the show might fuel those rumours even more.

Stewart has been hanging out with teen pop starlet Harry Styles recently. Probably not through choice, though - the one direction star was getting close and friendly with his daughter, Kimberly Stewart, 33. The pair even spent the night together and Styles was seen buying coffee for all three of them the next morning.

Rod Stewart, Pharrell, Cee-Lo Green Lined Up To Appear On The Voice USA

Rod Stewart Cee-Lo Green Lady Antebellum Pharrell Williams Robin Thicke

The producers of The Voice USA have arranged a varied line-up of music stars to perform on the show in the coming weeks, Reuters reports. Amongst them is Rod Stewart, who will be performing music from ‘Time,’ his first album of original material in over 10 years. He is scheduled to appear on the show on May 10, according to the report and he will be joined by Cee-Lo Green – formerly a judge on the show. Green is expected to perform his new song ‘Only You.’

On May 14, the show’s organisers have lined up a performance from Lady Antebellum. The Grammy award winners are currently promoting their album Golden and have been invited onto the show; currently one of US TV’s prime spots for promoting artists’ new material. The pop singer Robin Thicke will also be making an appearance on the same show as Lady Antebellum, as will rapper T.I. and singer / producer Pharrell, who recently guested on Daft Punk’s comeback track Get Lucky. The show averages around 14 million viewers across the two weekly shows.

The Voice is currently in its fourth season in the US, having recently drafted in Shakira and Usher to replace Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera. The season will draw to a close in June, when a winner will be chosen and rewarded with a recording contract.

Are New Judges Usher And Shakira Ready For The Voice USA Challenge?

Shakira Usher Christina Aguilera Cee-Lo Green

Tonight (March 25) marks the first instalment of the brand new series of The Voice USA - and what's more, it brings two completely new faces to the judges' seats (as any new talent show series tends to do now-a-days) with Usher and Shakira taking up the spots made vacants by Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green.

We all know that new a series means new faces, but what it also means is new auditions - and does anyone really watch these shows for anything other than the often torturous lengths some people go to in order to have their voices heard? Well maybe, but the majority of us only watch it for these first few weeks anyway and on a show where the contestant is regularly out-witted and upstaged by a piece of furniture then we've got a good chance that this years auditions are going to be some memorable ones.

As well as the usual tomfoolery from the hopeful contestants, the fourth series of The Voice USA should be an interesting one anyway just to see how the new judges gel. Cee Lo and Christina have already mentioned that they are only taking breaks and will be returning to the show and it was the chemistry shared by the four that really drove the show forward. With two new, although admittedly popular replacements, there is a chance that the show might not work the same way it did before and the show may end up being a disaster. However - and this is probably a more likely outcome - what if Shakira and Usher are too good and Cee Lo and Christina never get invited back, creating an all out war that may spill into a spin-off series! Maybe that won't happen, but hey, it's TV and weirder things have. The Voice airs on NBC tonight (March 25) 8 ET/PT.

Fresh from her recent court appearances, it was a disheveled looking Lindsay Lohan that took to the amFAR Awards red carpet in New York last night (February 6, 2013). The star has been in court again after allegations that she broke the terms of her probation by getting into another car-relates scrape. Various reports have been knocking around that she's struggling with the ongoing troubles in her life - albeit many of them self-inflicted - and she looked less than 100% last night.

Stocking Fillers: Best Christmas Songs of 2012

Many consider Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' the last true Christmas song to be released; it's hard to believe that was back in 1994! Since then, there's been a sputtering of jovial Christmas releases, but nothing that seems to stand the test of time. 2012 has actually delivered a handful of relatively acceptable additions - both cover of classic tracks and original tracks. Here are a few of the tracks you might be hearing more of over Christmas.
