Green had initially pleaded not guilty to the charges but changed his plea at the last minute. If Green had maintained his not guilty plea, evidence against him would have been disclosed at a preliminary hearing.

Green, whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, was accused of furnishing a woman with an illegal substance. At the time charges of sexual assault were considered but not, as MTV reports, pursued by the L.A. District Attorney Office owing to lack of evidence. Green's legal representative maintains relations between Green and the unnamed woman were consensual.

The incident took place in July 2012 on the night of 13th and early hours of 14th. The woman in question was romantically connected to Green at the time, as TMZ reports, and had visited him on his tour dates around the US. The unnamed woman claimed Green slipped her a drug whilst they were in a restaurant together and she had no knowledge of what happened until she awoke the name morning, naked and in bed with Green.

Judge Mark Young, as Billboard reports, sentenced 39-year-old Green to 360 hours community service and three years probation. He must also attend 52 AA meetings with a private therapist and has to register as a controlled substance offender.
