Britney Spears Returns With "Britney Jean", Celebrates With Upcoming Vegas Residency

Britney Spears Celine Dion

It’s Britney, b***h. Sorry, that was a bit aggressive, but rather appropriate for the occasion. Spears returns with her eighth studio album, Britney Jean, finally released in full (five days ahead of schedule). Despite the club-appropriate dance tunes on this album, it isn’t getting the kind of promotion of her previous records, nor the same love. Spears has also opted out of a full tour schedule to promote Britney Jean, choosing instead to incorporate the songs into the shows from her Las Vegas residency.

Britney Spears, Britney Jean Cover
Britney Jean is on top of the world, with a new album and a two-year residency ahead of her.

Her two-year residency at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas is quite a financially secure gig for the once troubled pop star. With 48 90-minute shows per year, created to span her entire career Spears joins the likes of Celine Dion, Olivia Newton-John, Carlos Santana and Rod Stewart, among others. According to Jason Gastwirth, senior vice president for marketing and entertainment at Caesars Entertainment, which owns Planet Hollywood, speaking for Businessweek, Britney is rather unique within that crowd.

Britney Spears will begin her two year residency at the Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas this winter, and she's not going to be doing it on the cheap either. The pop princess has ironed out all the details in her contract and will reportedly earn a whopping $310,000 for each show she does, meaning that she will earn nearly $15 million each year.

TMZ gained access to some of the finer details laid out in the contract, and state that the singer will be getting $310,000 for each of the 96 shows she has signed on to perform over the course of the next two years, playing 48 shows over the course of twelve months. With each show expected to make up to $508,514 each, this means that Brit will be given more than a 60% cut of the overall earnings her shows make. Not bad for 48 nights work a year.

Britney Spears Follows Her Own Advice From 'Work B***h' And Earns Massive Vegas Paycheck

Britney Spears Celine Dion

The fact that Britney Spears is set for a massive payday for her Las Vegas residency is public knowledge at this point. Still, the exact amount might be a surprise. You should be sitting comfortably for this one – Brit is set to receive $310,000 per show, which, with 48 shows per year makes about $15 million for the entire season.

Britney Spears, Calabasas, California
Britney might have embraced the "Work B***h" motto, but there's always time for a leisurely stroll.

Not a bad deal for Ms. Spears, who is also celebrating the release of her new single, 'Work B***h,' today. The song marks certainly has a much more electronic, club vibe than her older music (which is saying a lot, because a lot of Britney’s music of late has had a heavy club feel). You can hear the track below.

AEG Man Claims Celine Dion Is Bigger Than Michael Jackson. Which Is Just Wrong

Michael Jackson Celine Dion

A top executive for AEG Live has managed to turn the farcical Michael Jackson trial into an absolute circus by claiming the Canadian singer Celine Dion is a "bigger" artist than the late King of Pop ever was.

Testifying at the long-running wrongful death trial, John Meglin downplayed Jackson's lawyers claim that the singer would have earned $1.5 billion touring the world, according to CNN.

Meglin, who has been a concert promoter since the 1970s, was the first witness called to the stand as AEG Live began its defense in the thirteenth week of the trial. Much of his testimony focused on ridiculing accountant Arthur Much's claims that Jackson would have played 260 shows around the world as part of his This Is It tour, earning $890 million plus more in endorsements and sponsorships before his 66th birthday.

Do I Hear $200 Million? Britney Spears Embroiled In Las Vegas Bidding War

Britney Spears Celine Dion

Word’s got out that Britney’s heading to Vegas and now, it seems that more than one company wants in on the deal.

TMZ broke the story that Britney was in talks with Caesars to take a show to Las Vegas, now she’s decided not to return to American Idol. Once the word hit the Sunset Strip, though, other entertainment venues decided that they’d quite like a slice of Britney pie, as well.

According to a new report from TMZ, there are now 3 different Las Vegas properties hoping to clinch a deal with Britney Spears, who is hoping to revive her career in Vegas, with a two-year performance stint there. It will be a demanding prospect for Britney who suffered a number of personal problems and financial issues but she’s made a pretty decent job of repairing her ailing public profile with her work on American Idol.

Could The Bright Lights Of Las Vegas Be Calling Britney Spears?

Britney Spears Jason Trawick Celine Dion

In a bid to turn around her ill fortunes, Britney Spears will be taking on a Las Vegas residency expected to net her millions of dollars, according to a report from TMZ.

The gossip site had already reported that Spears recently split from her partner Jason Trawick (who also acted as co-conservator in her financial issues and was previously her agent). Spears also announced recently that she would not be returning to her role as a judge on X Factor, having completed her first season in the role.

A source close to Britney told TMZ that the Vegas show that she may have lined up will “eclipse” the kind of money that Celine Dion raked in with her show – and we’re talking $100 million per year for Celine, so the show’s promoters must truly believe that Britney can still get the cash registers ringing. “The deal is a go. There are several stipulations that could throw a monkey wrench in the deal, but it's basically done." The deal is being negotiated with the Caesar group – one of the biggest promoters on the strip and if it’s secured – providing that Britney can keep everything in order whilst the show’s on – will be a huge money-earner for the ‘Toxic’ singer.

Whitney Houston's Family Helped By 'The Houstons: On Our Own'

Whitney Houston R Kelly Celine Dion

For many, a new reality TV show that follows the family's every move wouldn't be an ideal way to aid the grieving process after a dramatic death, but for Whitney Houston's family, 'The Houstons: On Our Own' has been a great help.

"The show has kept the family close together, (instead of) isolated from one another. We talk about things, we are very open, and we pay attention to the ones who need consoling the most. Doing the show certainly has helped in a huge way," Pat Houston, Whitney's manager and sister-in-law, told Reuters. "There are preconceptions about the family that just aren't true. We are a strong family, a working family, and a typical family. Our family member just happens to be an icon," she added. "You will see a family that is grieving, that loves one another. You will see a family that is trying to move on."

The reality TV show makes its debut this Wednesday (October, 24) and will set the stage for a November of tributes to the troubled singer, who tragically passed away earlier on in 2012 after drowning in the bathtub, having taken cocaine. Upcoming projects include an official glossy book of photos, a compilation album of Houston's biggest hits that features a new duet version of "I Look To You" with R. Kelly, and the November 16 TV broadcast of a special Grammy tribute starring Jennifer Hudson, Usher and Celine Dion.

Star-Studded Salute To Whitney Houston At Grammys Tribute Concert

Whitney Houston Halle Berry Usher Jennifer Hudson Bobbi Kristina Clive Davis Yolanda Adams Britney Spears Celine Dion

Last night, a host of stars paid tribute to the late Whitney Houston in a final send-off from the organisers of the annual Grammy Awards. The glittering event, named We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston was led by Hollywood actress Halle Berry and musical tributes came from Jennifer Hudson and Usher amongst others. The music world was shaken by Whitney Houston’s death earlier this year, in a Beverley Hills hotel, on the eve of the Grammys.

Introducing the event, tearfully, Halle Berry said to the audience – who included Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown and former record label boss Clive Davis – “She inspired a generation of little girls and women to believe in their own dream and to know that they had within themselves the greatest gift of all. I was one of those little girls who then became a woman who never ever, ever, stopped loving Whitney Houston.”

The R&B star Usher performed ‘I Believe In You And Me,’ whilst the gospel singers Cece Winans and Yolanda Adams performed ‘Count On Me,’ reducing Whitney’s family members to tears. The X Factor judge Britney Spears shared the experience of how her version of ‘I Have Nothing’ secured her a record deal. Celine Dion was scheduled to perform ‘The Greatest Love Of All’ but was unable to attend, so taped her performance, which was then aired during the event last night. A one-hour version of the show will be aired on CNS on November 16, 2012.

Stars Sign Up To Perform At Whitney Houston TV Special

Whitney Houston Celine Dion Usher Jennifer Hudson

Usher, Celine Dion and Jennifer Hudson have all signed up to star in a TV tribute to the late singing icon Whitney Houston. The life and career of the late pop star is to be celebrated in an upcoming one-hour special titled We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute To Whitney Houston.

The show is to be filmed at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on October 11th and is likely to draw a huge swell of support from the music world given the profile that Houston once had. The show will also feature artists sharing their memories of Houston, as well as clips of some of her most memorable performances and never-before-seen footage.

The special is set to air in the US on November 16th, just days after a new greatest hits album is released. That release will be titled I Will Always Love You - the Best of Whitney Houston and will feature two previously unreleased tracks, including Never Give Up, produced by Jermaine Dupri, and an updated version of previous song I Look To You which features R. Kelly. The star infamously drowned in her bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles in February of this year during Grammys weekend.
