The Mexican-American dog trainer, who rose to fame with his TV series Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan, announced the news on his Instagram account on Monday (25Apr16).

In March (16) Cesar staged an elaborate proposal at the top of Mount Lycabettus in Greece, a hill which overlooks Athens.

"I'm so happy!!! She (Jahira) said yes!!!" He wrote. "I always knew that I wanted someone to share my life with who was sweet, adventurous, honest, and loving, but I got more than that! She is beautiful inside and out, extremely supportive of my entire family and me..."

Cesar, who on his show retrained dogs with behavioural problems by establishing his dominance over them, has been dating Jahira since 2010.

The 46-year-old met the former actress after a troubled period in his life. In June that year (10) his wife and mother of his two sons, Ilusion filed for divorce, several months after his beloved pet dog Daddy, who appeared on his TV show died.

"Jahira came into my life at just the right time. She was instrumental in helping me rebuild my life and my family after my divorce and break from the Dog Whisperer television show," he tells People.com. "She is compassionate, gentle, instinctual, spiritual, intelligent, fun, strong, adventurous, and loving.

"She embodies the principles that I prize the most - honesty, integrity and loyalty. On top of all of that, she loves dogs and mother nature just as much as I do. After six amazing years together, I am so happy I asked her to be my wife."
