Chad Michael Murray has become a father for the first time.

The 33-year-old actor and wife Sarah Roemer - who announced they were expecting a baby in January - feel ''blessed'' to have welcomed a son into the world, though they haven't given any details of his birth, including when he arrived or what his name is.

Explaining his absence from former Buffalo Bills' quarterback Jim Kelly's charity event, he wrote on Twitter yesterday (31.05.15): ''Sry I'm missin @JimKellyInc charity this year in Buffalo. My fav event 2 attend, but we've been blessed with a son. Gods greatest gift.(sic)''

And Chad, a keen follower of the Buffalo Bills is now looking forward to sharing his love of football with his new son.

He added: ''Sarah & I couldn't b happier & intend 2 spend many a day having family adventures & watching @buffalobills football! & also @chargers now (sic).''

The former 'One Tree Hill' actor previously admitted he thought parenthood would be the ''greatest thing'' to happen to him and was excited about a new phase in his life.

He said: ''It's the greatest thing in the whole world. I'm going to sit back and enjoy this new chapter.''
