Charli XCX ''freaked out'' when she met Bill Murray.

The 23-year-old singer regrets how starstruck she got when she ran into the 'Groundhog Day' actor, admitting she ran away instead of engaging in a conversation.

She said: ''I ran into BIll Murray in the lobby of a hotel and completely freaked out.

''He told me he liked my shoes and I ran away because I didn't know what to say. In hindsight, I wish I'd invited him to a party or something, but I didn't play it cool at all.''

Charli doesn't worry about fame and doesn't get upset if people criticise her because she knows not everyone will like the same things.

Asked how she copes with the pressure of being in the public eye, she told LOOK magazine: ''To be honest, I'm often a bit oblivious to that sort of thing.

''I've learned that if you court that sort of attention then you get it, and if you don't, you don't.

''I don't really care what people think of me - some people will be upset or offended at what I say or wear, and some people won't.

''That's cool though - the world isn't made for everyone to like each other and I'm just happy doing my own thing.''
