Charli XCX had tampons thrown at her while performing in London on Thursday (10.09.15).

The Boom Clap hitmaker was showered with several of the feminine hygiene products during her hour-long set but seemed thrilled to receive the absorbent items, waving them around and putting one down her shorts.

The 23-year-old star previously revealed she wished to launch her own range but was stopped from doing so because of health and safety issues.

She explained: ''I really wanted to make tampon merch. That was a dream of mine for a really long time - to have tampons that say 'Sucker' on the side and 'Pussy Power' on the box. But it's a health issue if someone's going to put it in their vagina.''

But the odd incident didn't overshadow the rest of the concert at Red Bull Studios Future Underground which saw her play several tracks from her 2015 album 'Sucker' including fan favourites 'Boom Clap' and 'Break the Rules'.

Dressed in tiny gym shorts and a red cropped T-shirt, Charli writhed around the stage while simulating oral sex and encouraging audience members to lift their middle fingers in the air for the title track from her recent record.

However, the show was one of the final opportunities to see her before she retreats to the studio to work on her next record as well as tracks for other artists, having recently penned songs for Selena Gomez and Rihanna.

She told the crowd: ''This is going to be my last headline show here in the UK this year.''
