Charlie Sheen's ex-wife Brooke Mueller checked in to a rehab facility in Los Angeles on Friday (03May13) just one day after the former couple's two boys were removed from her care.

Mueller was voluntarily admitted to the UCLA Medical Center to receive treatment for prescription drug abuse while her children, four-year-old twins Max and Bob, have been placed with Sheen's ex-wife Denise Richards.

Child welfare officials decided that Mueller's home was an "unsafe environment" for kids after reports suggested that she was using drugs again but the socialite has vowed to clean up her act for her children.

It was previously reported that Mueller was involuntarily held at the same treatment facility last week (ends03May13) and was allegedly released on Friday before checking back into the facility voluntarily.

Mueller's representative, Steve Honig, tells Wenn, "Despite reports to the contrary, Brooke is currently at UCLA Medical Center where she has been since being admitted May 3. Brooke will be there for several more days, and will likely transition directly into a residential treatment facility to get help for prescription drug abuse. Brooke misses her children, and wants to get healthy so she can resume her life and get back to being a mom."

Richards previously stepped in to look after Sheen's kids in 2011 when Mueller sought treatment at a rehab facility.
