Phil Robertson from A&E's hit reality television show made some disparaging comments about homosexuality in the January issue of GQ magazine.

The 67 year-old was quoted saying, "It seems like, to me, a vagina - as a man - would be more desirable than a man's anus, that's just me."

"It seems like, to me, a vagina - as a man - would be more desirable than a man's anus, that's just me."

Shortly after the anti-gay comments surfaced online A&E suspended the elderly Robertson from the show.

In a statement, obtained by E!News, A&E parent A+E Networks said "We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson's comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty."

Charlie Sheen got wind of the offensive remarks and has unloaded in one of his famous twitter rants on Mr Robertson.

Sheen stated that the homosexuality comments "offended and hurt so many dear friends of mine" and he will "speak loudly and clearly for ALL of them."

The 'Anger Management' actor also brands him a "Mallard brained" and a "shower dodger" and says what he did was "abhorrently and mendaciously unforgivable."

Sheen warned the reality TV star that he is "now in the crosshairs of a MaSheen style media beat down," and things got more personal when the 48 year-old said, "The only thing you should ever be in charge of building is a hole in the ground the exact size of your head. Perhaps your beard would fit as well if you plucked out the army of scabies and bull weevils sequestered deep in its sarcophagus of dander and weasel pelts."

"Shame on you. You're the only surviving brain donor I've ever known."

The show's future is now unclear and fans can only wait to see if the rest of the family decide to leave the show and stick together following Phil's suspension.
