Charlie Sheen is trying to "move on" after being found "drunk and naked" with an escort in a hotel room.

The 45-year-old actor - who was taken to the New York Hospital to undergo psychiatric evaluation after allegedly trashing his suite at the city's Plaza Hotel - is said to be keen to put the incident behind him and returned to his home in Los Angeles last night (26.10.10).

Friends of the star told gossip website TMZ that despite acknowledging he had "screwed up", he has no plans to seek further treatment or admit himself to rehab again.

Meanwhile, Charlie's ex-wife Denise Richards - who was also staying at the Plaza Hotel with the former couple's two young daughters, Sam, six, and Lola, five, at the time of the incident - has said she is hoping to keep their children in the dark about what happened.

She explained: "They have no idea. They don't know what happened. Thank God our girls are young enough - they're five and six and you know, I do my best to protect them from certain things and so today they came with mom to a few interviews, they went shopping, they went to the zoo, so they're enjoying New York. This is their first time here."

Denise admitted she is thankful her daughters are too young to read about their father's alleged misgivings on the internet.

She added to US TV show 'LX New York': "Our daughters are at an age where they're very young and thank God they can't just turn on the internet and turn the news on and hear different things.

"I definitely protect them as much as possible. This is stuff that obviously they're too young to understand, that I don't want to have to explain right now, so we protect them as much as we can."

A spokesperson for the actor has claimed the incident was down to an "allergic reaction" to medication.

In August, Charlie pleaded guilty to misdemeanour assault on his estranged wife Brooke Mueller last Christmas Day (25.12.09).

He was sentenced to 30 days in rehab and given a 30-day suspended prison sentence after agreeing a plea bargain deal.

He was also sentenced to three months probation and must complete 36 hours of domestic violence counselling.
