Not many musicians have managed to reinvent themselves as successfully as Charlie Simpson; once a member of one of the UK's biggest manufactured pop groups, he turned his back on that side of the industry and created a respectable reputation with the band Fightstar. Having recorded and released three well received albums, in 2010 the band felt it was time to take a break. In the period following Charlie recorded his debut solo album 'Young Pilgrim' with producer/engineer Danton Supple.
Released in August through Nusic Sounds (distributed by PIAS) the record went straight into the top ten and became one of the biggest selling albums of the month. Currently on tour throughout the UK, we caught up with the man himself before a gig at The Cockpit in Leeds.
The new single 'Cemetery' has been named as single of the week on itunes and it is available to buy from 31st October 2011 and the bundel includes Charlie's an acoustic version of the singe, a cover of Bon Iver's 'Re:stacks', and a version of Noah & The Whale's Life Is Life.
Remaining October gigs:
26 - Academy 2, Manchester
27 - Islington Academy, London
28 - Concorde 2, Brighton
