Charlize Theron and Sean Penn are reportedly engaged.

The 'Milk' star and the 'Prometheus' actress, who started dating late last year, decided to get married in the near future during a romantic trip to Paris in November.

A source close to the 39-year-old beauty said Sean, 54, didn't propose in a traditional manner, as they mutually ''decided to take their relationship to the next level.''

The insider also told UsMagazine.com: ''There's no ring, but they are committed.''

Earlier this year, Charlize claimed she had no desire to get married.

In June, she said: ''Let's put it this way: I never had the dream of the white dress. And watching other people getting married? I think it's beautiful for them, but to be quite honest, usually I'm sitting there just devastated.

''It's supposed to be this night of celebrating love, and all you see is a couple separated all night making sure everybody else is okay. It just looks like a lot of work. And as you get older, you start sifting through the stuff that really matters.''

A source previously claimed the duo, who went public with their relationship at Sean's third annual Help Haiti Home gala last January, were talking about adopting a child together.

Sean already has two children, Dylan, 23, and Hopper, 20, with his ex-wife Robin Wright, while Charlize, 38, has a two-year-old son Jackson, whom she adopted in March 2012.

The Oscar-winning actor was also previously married to Madonna.
