The full-length trailer has finally been released for the Lars Von Trier two-part erotic drama, Nymphomaniac. The Danish director has teased for months with promotional posters for the movie showing cast members' faces in the throes of sexual pleasure.

Written and directed by the somewhat infamously controversial Von Trier ('Antichrist,' 'Melancholia'), the film stars Charlotte Gainsbourg as Joe, a woman found beaten in an alley by Stellan Skarsgard's Seligman. Joe attends group therapy sessions after self-diagnosing as a nymphomaniac; a sex addict. Seligman looks after Joe and she tells him her life story, including her sexual experiences.

The film features a stellar cast, including Stellan Skarsgard, Shia LaBeouf, Christian Slater, Willem Dafoe, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman and Connie Nielsen to name a few.

Even though Von Trier is now allowed back after his widely condemned "Nazi" speech in 2011, the Cannes Film Festival has confirmed that the film will not qualify for competition at next's year's festival because the event is reserved for premieres only, according to THR. By being shown on Christmas Day in Copenhagen, Nymphomaniac takes itself out of the runnings for any prizes at Cannes 2014.

However, it has been suggested that Cannes may screen von Trier's original 5 ½ hour director's cut of Nymphomaniac, as opposed to the two part four hour version that Von Trier was forced to edit due to commercial reasons.

Nymphomaniac will seemingly see Von Trier court controversy again: the trailer shows full-frontal images of sex, BDSM scenes and prostitution. However, rather than filming a movie about sex for pornographic purposes, Von Trier will present an experience for viewers that deals with the taboo subject of sex addiction amongst women.

Von Trier apparently plans to release two versions of his movie, with one being classed as an 'Explicit' version. The hardcore version of Nymphomaniac is said to include scenes of unsimulated sex, supposedly with porn actors' genitals digitally grafted on to the bodies of the cast.

Transformers actor Shia LaBeouf spoke of his experiences of working for a director as demanding as Von Trier: "[Von Trier] is very dangerous," he said, via MTV. "He's the most dangerous dude that I've ever showed up for. I'm terrified. I'm so terrified, which is why I have to go. We'll see what happens."

"[The movie] is what you think it is," LaBeouf added. "It is Lars von Trier, making a movie about what he's making. For instance, there's a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says we're doing it for real. Everything that is illegal, we'll shoot in blurred images. Other than that, everything is happening."

After premiering in Denmark on the 25th December, Nymphomaniac will be released in the UK on the 7th March.
