Cheryl has reportedly been denied a quickie divorce from estranged husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini after he demanded more money. The couple, who wed in August 2014, are said to have not signed a pre-nuptial agreement, and Jean-Bernard is now entitled to a chunk of her estimated £12million fortune.

Jean-Bernard was initially reported not to be interested in taking any money from Cheryl, but it appears he may have changed his mind. A source told The Mirror: “Cheryl filed for divorce before Christmas and hoped things would be done and dusted by now as she is keen to move on with her life and new relationship with Liam."

“This should have been dealt with absolutely ages ago but things have turned very sour. Jean-Bernard has hired top lawyers to make sure he doesn’t walk away empty-handed so obviously that has led to things getting very messy.”

The Mirror also reports that book publishers have been trying to tempt Jean-Bernard to talk about his short-lived marriage for a sizeable sum, but it’s understood that any divorce settlement would include a water-tight non-disclosure agreement preventing him from doing so.

Last week Jean-Bernard broke his silence on his split from Cheryl. “It’s been a tough year, I’m trying to move on. I’ll never think badly of her - she is a great girl,” he told The Mirror in Cannes. “I’m just a normal guy, I didn’t want to be in the public eye. I’m not a celebrity,”
