The ‘X-Factor’ judge married her French husband in July 2014 after a whirlwind romance.
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is reportedly to divorce her husband Jean-Bernard after 18 months of marriage. According to the Sunday Mirror, Cheryl has begun formal legal proceedings by filing paperwork which cites ‘irreconcilable’ differences between her and Jean-Bernard.
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and husband Jean-Bernard are reportedly divorcing.
The Sunday Mirror also reports that the couple secretly split five months ago but are determined to remain close friends. An insider told the newspaper: "In the end Cheryl realised she had married too soon and had been swept away by a bit of a whirlwind romance.”
"Over time it became clear to each of them that they were very different people and from very different worlds. They are now focusing on making sure they stay friends. The divorce is amicable and they have both said they will always be there for each other.”
But The Sun reports that Cheryl’s decision to end her 18-month long marriage was due to Jean-Bernard’s jealousy. A source told the newspaper: “Cheryl is divorcing JB on the grounds of his unreasonable behaviour. She has had enough of his jealousy.”
“He didn’t like it when she had to spend time with other men and even became jealous when she was hanging out with her dogs.” The source added that Cheryl is now looking for a quick divorce, which could be held up if she does have to have any talks with Jean-Bernard over a financial settlement.
Cheryl and Jean-Bernard married in a surprise wedding on the island of Mustique in July 2014, after just a few months of dating. The pair were last seen in public together in October, at the joint 40th birthday bash for ‘I’m A Celeb’ hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.
The couple are said to have taken time to file divorce papers because they wanted to be absolutely certain. According to the Sunday Mirror, Jean-Bernard has now completely moved out of the London home the couple shared together and is now spending most of his time in the United States.
As news of the end of her marriage broke, Cheryl took to Instagram, sharing a simple selfie with no caption. While she is yet to publicly comment on the reports the singer was soon inundated with messages of support from fans. Cheryl was previously married to footballer Ashley Cole from 2006 to 2010.
