The pair are said to have become friends following David’s appearance on ‘The X-Factor’?
They may seem like an unlikely pairing, but Craig David and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini are said to have grown close in recent months, after meeting on ‘The X-Factor’ in December. The news comes after Cheryl’s marriage to French husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini has been under scrutiny in recent months, with the couple rumoured to be heading for a divorce.
Cheryl Cole is said to have struck up a friendship with Craig David.
The Sun reports that the two struck up a close friendship after Craig appeared on ‘The X-Factor’ to perform with Cheryl’s act Reggie N Bollie during the December final. A source told the newspaper, “The atmosphere was electric when they met on the X Factor set.”
“Cheryl has needed fun and friendship in recent months and Craig has given her that. They speak a lot and there is something special between them. Watch this space." The two are even said to have swapped numbers following the meeting.
However a rep for Cheryl denied the claims, telling The Mirror there was nothing going on between the pair and adding, "Cheryl only met and spoke to Craig at X Factor”. Cheryl is currently thought to be working on her fifth studio album and it’s been previously reported that Craig is helping her in the studio.
Last month an insider told The Mirror: “Cheryl and Craig are fans of each other’s work. Cheryl listened to Craig’s earlier work as a teenager and also likes his new material. He’s keen to help write a track for her as the timing is perfect for both of them musically – and they both have plenty of ideas.”
In recent months Craig has seen a resurgence in his musical career, after first finding fame in 1999. In November he scored his first top 20 UK hit in over seven years with ‘When the Bassline Drops’ and he is expected to release his new album Following My Intuition, later this year.
