John C. Reilly has joined the cast of 'God of Carnage'.

The 'Chicago' actor will play the husband of Jodie Foster in the Roman Polanski-directed project, which also stars Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz.

The movie tells the tale of two sets of parents who meet after their children fight in a schoolyard, only to find they get along worse than their kids.

Filming on the project is due to begin in Paris, France, in January due to Polanski's inability to return to the US because of issues relating to a 33-year-old statutory rape conviction.

Reilly - who is replacing Matt Dillon in the movie - recently completed work on Miguel Arteta's 'Cedar Rapids' alongside Sigourney Weaver and Ed Helms and will next year be seen in 'Terri' with Jacob Wysocki and drama 'We Need To Talk About Kevin' with Tilda Swinton.

'God of Carnage' - based on the play 'Le Dieu du Carnage' by Yasmina Reza - is due for release in 2012.
