The hip-hop star, real name Keith Cozart, was scheduled to perform as a hologram broadcast from a parking lot outside the Fonda Theater, but Los Angeles police officers refused to let the concert go on after the rapper reportedly failed to secure the proper permit.

A Los Angeles police officer tells Billboard.com, “They didn’t have the proper permit. They had some, but not the one-day event permit. They didn’t give enough notice to our captain. Our captain will never approve a one-day event with one-day notice. He needs time to review what it is, what kind of people will be coming.”

The concert was originally scheduled to take place inside the theatre, but the gig was cancelled following a security dispute between bosses at entertainment company AEG, the theatre and Chief Keef's representatives.

According to TheWrap.com, Cozart filed a police complaint alleging a member of his team was assaulted by a theatre employee. Representatives for AEG have disputed the claim.

A statement from Alki David, the CEO of Cozart's record label, FilmOn, reads: "Just pathetic. The city of Los Angeles was clearly doing the dirty work of corporate giant AEG by shutting down Chief Keef's festival.

"It was shaping up to be a great night at the lot and we had 80,000 fans watching on FilmOn.com. We are so p**sed off we are planning to build a permanent venue... next to AEG's Fonda Theater."

The failed concert comes two months after Chief Keef's Stop the Violence set at Craze Fest in Indiana was cut short after just one song, after local police objected to his appearance, which was via hologram from Los Angeles.
