Following an alleged hit-and-run accident in California, singer Chris Brown has had his probation revoked - yet he has not been jailed. The incident occurred on the 12th May when Brown shunted the back of a car that had stopped at a red light. The other driver, identified as Olga G, said she called her husband who advised she should exchange contact and insurance details with Brown, although she did not know the other driver to be the famous singer. In her written statement, as reported by BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat, she described Brown as a man who was polite at first but became confrontational when she asked to see his identification. Brown's companion - the only other passenger in his car - is thought to be Karrueche Tran, Chris' current girlfriend.

Olga G resorted to taking a photo of the pair so that they might later be identified but, in an unnerving turn, the couple "went ballistic," with Brown flying off the handle; swearing and grabbing Olga G's camera against screams from Tran. Olga G described the scene: "I jumped back, the girl screamed 'Don't touch her. Don't touch her. I was so shocked that I was speechless. Just a moment ago he was a nice guy. After screaming some insulting nonsense for a while longer, he slammed a door and drove away fast and noisy."

The shaken woman still didn't realise that she'd been involved in an altercation with a celebrity until a friend matched the people in her photo with online reports. Brown has not entered a plea in the ongoing hit-and-run case but his lawyer, Mark Geragos, has suggested that the matter may be resolved informally without a major probation hearing. On 15th July, Superior Court Judge James Brandlin ruled that "In this matter, probation is revoked," according to Billboard, with the hit-and-run case back in court on 23rd July and another hearing scheduled for 16th August.

The 'Don't Think They Know' singer has been on felony probation in the 2009 beating of former girlfriend Rihanna and has been in and out of court since the assault, making reports on fulfilling the requirements of his probation. Brown, who reportedly crashed his Porshe in February 2013 as well as had a fight in the same month with Frank Ocean, has tweeted his 12.8 million Twitter followers to try to explain: "I did everything I was suppose to do during the so called hit n run, I provided the correct info. There were no injuries or damages. C'mon!!"
