A week after revealing Matt LeBlanc as a star addition to the re-vamped ‘Top Gear’ line-up, Chris Evans has now revealed the full list of his co-presenters for when the motoring show returns to BBC2 later this year – and there’s a lot of them!

Formula 1 commentator and former team owner Eddie Jordan and German racing driver Sabine Schmitz have been added, as well as motoring journalist Chris Harris and newcomer Rory Reid, who was selected from 30-second video auditions.

“A magnificent seven sent from motoring heaven,” Evans said on Thursday in a press release unveiling the line-up. “Well, six plus one. Six plus me… we really do have a bit of everything for everyone.”

Schmitz, a professional racing driver for BMW and Porsche, has actually been on ‘Top Gear’ before as she guided Clarkson around the notorious Nurburgring circuit in Germany. “The chance to combine both driving and filming was too good an opportunity to pass up,” she said in reaction. “I've appeared on Top Gear a few times in the past, so I know we're going to have a lot of fun.”

67 year old Jordan was a member of the BBC’s Formula 1 presenting team, and Evans described him as “bonkers, unpredictable a loose cannon. In a sport that prefers to be hermetically sealed. He has more connections than Vodafone.”

In a reaction, Jordan said: “Cars are in my DNA and although I’ve been fortunate enough to accomplish most things I ever aspired to in motorsport, presenting ‘Top Gear’ is quite simply the icing on the cake.”

Harris has had previous experience fronting various motoring programmes on YouTube, whereas Reid is the only relatively unknown cast member, though he has appeared on Sky1’s ‘Gadget Geeks’. Evans revealed that a decision was made early on to hold auditions for a newcomer to be on the show as a regular co-presenter.

“Rory was plucked from the public 30-second video auditions,” said Evans. “He’s knowledgeable, funny cool and warm. That’s not an easy combo. And he’s a brilliant storyteller. His audition stuck out a mile.”

They’ll all be joining The Stig, one of the few remaining elements of the old ‘Top Gear’ regime under Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May from last year, as well as Evans and LeBlanc when the show returns in May 2016.
