Chris Evans’ revamped ‘Top Gear’ has hit another roadblock, after it was revealed the new series will debut head-to-head against ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. The show had been scheduled to debut on May 8th, but was then pushed back to May 22nd, meaning it will clash with the first of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’s’ live semi-finals on ITV.

“They were gutted when they heard that 'Top Gear' would go head-to-head with 'Britain’s Got Talent'.” ‘BGT’ traditionally pulls in high ratings for ITV and last Saturday 11.6 million viewers tuned in.

But a BBC spokeswoman refused to comment on the rumours, saying: “We have always said we will launch in May and full scheduling details will be announced in due course.” It’s also understood that the new series will consist of just six episodes rather than the traditional eight.

The revamped series has already run into a slew of problems since filming began earlier this year. Most notably, the show came under intense scrutiny after filming near the Cenotaph last month. The stunt has also reportedly caused tensions between Evans and his co-host Matt LeBlanc.
