Chris Hemsworth has taken to Instagram to mock reports that his marriage to Elsa Pataky is ‘on the rocks’.

Responding to a story by Australian gossip mag Woman’s Day, Hemsworth shared a pic of himself and Elsa enjoying a boat ride and joked that he was ‘looking for a new wife’.

Women’s Day had reported that the couple were now ‘almost living separate lives’ and could be the next big Hollywood split.

He captioned the image: “Looking for a new wife according to @womansdayaus and other misleading outlets! Honey you still love me right?! @elsapatakyconfidential #thanksfortheheadsup."

A ‘close friend’ told the magazine: “They’ve decided they need space, and they’ve been taking a little break from each other.

“Hopefully it will be a case of absence makes the heart grow fonder, but they definitely appear to have some issues that need to be sorted out. It has raised a few eyebrows among their friends.”

The mag also states that friends started to think something was up when Pataky took her three child to Spain last month, leaving Hemsworth behind in Australia, shooting Thor Ragnok.

Hemsworth and Pataky met in 2010 and tied the knot later that year. Speaking about their decision to marry quickly to Good Morning Britain in March, Hemsworth said: “It just felt right.”

“It made sense. There was no great plan to any of it to be honest, we were on holiday and we said, 'Why don't we get married, too?' And then the next minute…

"There probably should have been some planning, but it all worked out,” he continued. “Honestly, we had both our families on holiday at the same time, just randomly, and we said, 'This is a good opportunity with everyone together.' So, we just did it."
