Coldplay will release new music next year.

The 'Yellow' hitmakers - which is comprised of Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion - have revealed they are working on new songs and are planning to release an EP called 'Kaleidoscope' in 2017.

The group tweeted: ''Hello everyone, we're working on some new songs for next year. It's called the Kaleidoscope ep. We hope you're well, love cm #KaleidoscopeEP (sic).''

And the band - who released their seventh studio album 'A Headful of Dream's in December 2015 - have also taken to social media to share a video of their frontman Martin recording a ''new version'' of 'Everglow', which they released last year.

Alongside a black and white clip, they wrote: ''This is Chris recording the new version of #Everglow, the latest single from #AHFOD. It's available now on all streaming and download sites. 9sic).''

However, Coldplay scared fans after hinting their last album would be their final compilation.

Speaking previously, Martin said: ''It's our seventh thing, and the way we look at it, it's like the last 'Harry Potter' book or something like that.

''Not to say that there might not be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something.

''I have to think of it as the final thing we're doing. Otherwise we wouldn't put everything into it.''
