Comedian Chris Rock "assumed" Broadway actors read their lines off a teleprompter until he made his own debut this year (11).
Rock, who currently stars in the play The Motherf**ker With the Hat, admits when he first signed onto the project he didn't realise he would have to memorise his own lines - he thought production officials would set up cue cards to guide him.
During an appearance on U.S. talk show The View on Friday (17Jun11), he says, " I assumed at some point, and this is how ignorant I am, that there would be cue cards on Broadway. I thought that (the producers) they were just hiding them from me for now but surely when we get to opening night there would be a teleprompter or something. The words would be somewhere for me to read. (I mess up my lines) all the time!"
