Rock will host the annual ceremony on February 28th.
Chris Rock is gearing up to host the Academy Awards for the second time and to him the Oscars is much like New Years Eve. In his first promo vid ahead of the 2016 ceremony Rock compares the annual awards to December 31st, saying it's full of ‘drunk, disappointed people’.

In the clip, after introducing himself as the 2016 host, Rock goes on to say, “Much like New Year’s Eve, it’ll be a night that ends with a lot of drunk, disappointed people swearing they’ll do better next year.”

The comedian shared the video on Twitter, Sunday, adding ‘There will always be 3 constants. Death, taxes and the Oscars. Hope all 3 don't happen to me this year. #Oscars.’ Rock was first announced as the ceremony’s host in January, having previously led proceedings in 2005.
Last month, the Academy's twitter account gave a special behind-the-scenes look at Rock on his first promo shoot, showing the 50 year being photographed in a suit as he prepares for the big gig. The video ended with a shot of Rock’s teleprompter which read: “When they asked me to host the Oscars, I told them that I’d only do it if Jimmy Kimmel hosts a live special after the Oscars.”
Rock also made headlines over the weekend when he addressed Jennifer Lawrence’s gender-pay-gap comments, saying that if the actress were black then, “she’d really have something to complain about.”

In the New Yorker piece profiling comedian Leslie Jones, Rock was quoted as saying: “Black women have the hardest gig in show business. You hear Jennifer Lawrence complaining about getting paid less because she’s a woman—if she was black, she’d really have something to complain about.”
