There could be another shake up on NBC’s The Voice come the end of the current season, with Christina Aguilera apparently all but confirmed to return the show. Whose place will she be taking? Shakira, the pair reversing the roles they switched when Aguilera left after appearing on the first three seasons of the hit reality singing contest.

There was no acrimonious split between Aguilera and The Voice, with the star only leaving so that she could promote her latest album Lotus, which came out last November. With promotional duties now pretty much done for that, the star can now come back to The Voice judging table and resume duties. Which is probably just as well because Shakira gave birth to her and Gerard Pique’s first child together in January of this year and could do with the time off to help raise him.

There could be another returnee to the show too, according to Deadline, with Cee-Lo Green also rumored to be making a return to the judges panel. Green also took a sabbatical to concentrate on his music after season three, but is now apparently in the frame for a return. In the pair’s absence Usher had joined Shakira in coaching alongside Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. Producer Mark Burnett has said in the past: “Everybody can’t coach for life because when you have people with current recording in the game, this is not their job. Their job is their fans and making music and being live, and so we knew from the beginning that this would happen, and we’ve had six coaches. They all have another life and their schedules.”
