We all so badly wanted to believe it was real, but sadly the picture of Christina Ricci dressed as Morticia Addams has been revealed to be a fake. The pic spread like wildfire across the internet on Monday, with excited fans getting all emotional over Ricci channeling her onscreen mom.

But according to Yahoo movies the pic is a big old fake, thanks to some clever photoshopping. The picture is actually a publicity still of Anjelica Huston (who played Morticia Addams), from the ‘90s, with Ricci’s head edited over Houston’s.

Before fans realised the image wasn't all it seemed, they gleefully took to twitter to express their joy and amazement over the pic. ‘Everything now comes to a screeching halt because Christina Ricci is dressed like Morticia Addams,’ wrote one happy fan on twitter.

While another added, ‘Christina Ricci as Morticia Addams. What a time to be alive.’ Of course just because the photo has been revealed to be a fake doesn't mean we still can’t enjoy it. After all it ispretty amazing and an Addam’s Family reboot with an older Ricci as the family matriarch sounds like a brilliant idea.

Ricci starred as Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family in 1991, when she was 11 and its sequel Addams Family Values 1993 at aged 13. The actress has since gone on to appear in films such as Sleepy Hallow and Monster, as well as TV biopic Lizzie Borden Took an Axe.
