Armed police were called in to rescue Lady Gaga after she was mobbed by hundreds of fans at an airport in South Korea on Friday (15Aug14).

The Poker Face singer flew into Gimpo International Airport, a small regional base near Seoul, on Friday ahead of her gig in the city on Saturday (16Aug14), and she was caught in a crush as hundreds of devotees descended on the terminal building.

An onlooker tells Wenn, "She came in on a private jet from Japan... I reckon there was 2,000-plus people there and around 25 armed police officers... The crowd was crazy, but the police were able to stop Gaga from getting caught in the crush. The situation was managed very professionally."

The singer later played down the scary situation in a post on her Twitter.com page, writing, "Thank you to the hundreds of beautiful fans that greeted me at the airport. Your love means so much to me. I will show you my love and leave my heart on the stage."

Gaga arrived in Seoul carrying a stuffed toy which resembled her pet dog Asia, who has not been allowed to travel with the singer.
