LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT star Christopher Meloni has escaped jury duty for over a decade - because defence attorneys refuse to let the famous TV detective serve in a U.S. court of law.
The 49 year old is widely recognised as top cop Detective Elliot Stabler, the character he's played since the show started in 1999.
And the actor insists attorneys always turn him away when he shows up for jury duty, because they're afraid he may be biased.
He says, "I've never done jury duty and I've gone but there's no defence attorney who is going to have Elliot Stabler (serve on a case). That's never happened. They just take a look at me and say, 'Thank you for trying.'"
