Christopher Plummer has admonished the anti-gay protesters who soured the Golden Globes celebrations for many stars in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday night (15Jan12).
After winning the night's first award for his supporting role in Beginners, in which he played an elderly gay man dying of cancer, the British actor hit the press room backstage at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and commented on the protests that greeted him and his peers as he arrived at the event.
Plummer said, "Gay characters are human beings. We're all exactly the same... Gays are part of our society and have been since the Egyptians, the Greeks; it is part of the human condition. I know there's an awful lot of anti-gay feeling right now, particularly at this moment, and I abhor it."
