Christopher Walken? Captain Hook? That is an inspired casting choice, if ever there was one. The beloved actor will play a rather unsavoury character in NBC’s upcoming adaptation of Peter Pan, the network announced this Friday. It’s a great idea, especially since Walken definitely knows a thing or two about live musical performances. Oh, did we mention that this version of Peter Pan will be live? Apparently the network considered their The Sound of Music Live experiment enough of a success to make it a regular thing.

Christopher Walken
Say hello to NBC's newly cast Captain Hook

"He's one of the most unique actors in our business….and he might really just be a song and dance man at heart," NBC president Bob Greenblatt told E! today at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills. "He's fearless as a comedic actor and we guarantee he will bring his own take to Captain Hook. This might be the first tap-dancing Captain Hook."

Walken is the first big name to be cast in Peter Pan, but the network is setting the bar pretty high with his casting. Not only is Walken generally awesome (according to popular opinion/this staff writer personally), he is also an Oscar winner, nominee – Hollywood royalty, really. So, if you weren’t before, are you excited for Peter Pan now?
