After much speculation and a teaser on Vine, which did little more than heighten the tension, the full teaser for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiered this Tuesday. Cue excited screaming. Besides the fact that #coulsonlives – yes, Marvel and ABC are clearly up to date on their social media promotion – in the new teaser we get a look at some of the other characters. Even though, let’s be honest, all anyone cares about at this point is the beloved Phil Coulson. According to MTV, Clark Gregg will team up with Ming-Na Wen (“Agent Melinda May”), Elizabeth Henstridge (“Agent Jemma Simmons”), Iain De Caestecker (“Agent Leo Fitz”), Brett Dalton (“Agent Grant Ward”), Chloe Bennet (“Skye”), and J. August Richards to “work the cases that S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn’t classified” as the oh-so-cool Coulson calls it.

When Ward, overflowing with confidence, gets a promotion, the secrets of what S.H.I.E.L.D. actually does and through who (#coulsonlives!) are revealed to him. His team includes the aforementioned agents, and is headed by none other than agent Phil Coulson. It’s not all fun, games and fighting monsters though. From the trailer it becomes obvious that the people have formed some kind of civil resistance, as Skye comes in with her line “We will rise against those, who shield us from the truth,” which would have been wholly more impressive if it wasn’t interrupted by Coulson discovering her in the back of her van. So we can pretty much conclude that whatever Skye’s deal is, she will be a series regular. Now, after the whirlwind of news, following last week’s announcement that ABC had picked up the show, we already have a cast, an air date, a trailer and of course the original piece of news – the return of agent Coulson.
