TV presenter Claudia Winkleman has announced she is leaving movie review series ‘Film 2016’ after six years at the helm. Winkleman, who also presents ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ on the BBC alongside Tess Daly, says she is leaving the show because of a desire to spend more time with her family.

In a statement Winkleman said: "I’m incredibly sad about leaving the Film Show and it wasn’t an easy decision. At this time of year I juggle all kinds of things for TV and radio and the show simply deserves someone who can give it their all.”

Winkleman began presenting the show in 2010 alongside Danny Leigh after the departure of Jonathan Ross. The review series began in 1971 and was previously hosted by film critic Barry Norman until 1998.

Reacting to Winkleman’s decision, Mark Bell, the BBC's head of arts commissioning, said: “We’ve loved having Claudia on Film 2016 and I’d like to thank her for all her hard work and commitment to the show.”

Winkleman will be back on our screens tonight (September 3) to launch the new series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ with Tess Daly. The 14th series features celebs Anastasia, Daisy Lowe, Will Young and Louise Redknapp competing for the glitterball trophy. She will also continue to present her Sunday Radio 2 show and the BBC’s ‘Great British Sewing Bee’.
