Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood's new movie is based on Captain Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger, who ditched US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River in January 2009.
Clint Eastwood's new film will be a real-life tale of an heroic pilot.
The 85-year-old filmmaker has been tasked with directing 'Miracle on the Hudson', which is based on Captain Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger's memoirs from landing a US flight in New York's Hudson River in 2009, which saved 155 passengers' lives.
Sullenberger said he is ''very glad'' the filmmaker - whose last movie was 2014's 'American Sniper' - has been chosen to head up the film and considers his story to be in the hands of a ''gifted'' director.
The pilot said: ''I am very glad my story is in the hands of gifted storyteller and filmmaker Clint Eastwood, and veteran producers Allyn Stewart and Frank Marshall.
''The project could not have found a better home than Warner Bros. Pictures. This is truly a dream team.''
Meanwhile, Greg Silverman, Warner Bros. President, said: ''Simply put, Clint Eastwood is at the top of his game, not to mention a global treasure.
''On the heels of his extraordinary work in 'American Sniper', it is tremendously exciting to see him explore the life of another captivating true-life hero.
''It is also great to be collaborating with Frank Marshall and Allyn Stewart to produce this compelling script by Todd Komarnicki.''
Filming is planned to commence in autumn 2015.
