The Coachella festival always manages to bring out the big names for its annual two weekend spectacular in April. This year, organizers have outdone themselves with a feast of big name acts that will take to Coachella’s sun soaked stage. From the relatively new wave makers like Lorde and Bastille to heavyweights such as Muse and of course the reunited Outkast there is something for everyone in the Californian sun. In order to really whet your appetite, we’re running down the 10 acts you simply cannot afford to miss at this year’s Coachella Festival.

BeckBeck will be preforming at this year's Coachella festival

Beck

Some artists need no introduction and some don’t even need a surname, this is particularly true when it comes to Beck. it’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years single he released ‘Loser’. Since then he’s become a musical pioneer who's experimented with everything from rock to electro and beyond. He’s also not afraid to be a little avant-garde, after all he released a album of sheet music in 2012. His latest offering ‘Morning Phase’ has just come out to glowing reviews, so you can expect to hear some new tracks mixed in with the classics that we came to love him for.

Bastille

Bastille have already stormed their native U.K. with the single ‘Pomepeii’, from their debut album, ‘Bad Blood’. Now the indie four piece are taking their unique sound across the Atlantic to play on the Friday. Their live performances are known for being energetic so get ready to jump and wave your arms as you indulge in a bit of indie magic. Another British band who will be lighting up the Cochella stage are electro duo Disclosure. The Grammy nominees will be closing the outdoor stage on Sunday where last year they impressed festival goers. Now, with a critically acclaimed debut album and a load of award nominations behind them, expect an even better show from the boys. You wont be able to stop yourself from dancing when these take the stage, so make sure to conserve some energy for Sunday night.

Muse

Muse really know how to put on an amazing live show and are now seasoned pros at the headlining festivals game. With enough hits to ensure the party keeps going all night this British trio are the kings of over the top extravagant rock and they know it. We may not have had a studio album from the boys since 2012 but that doesn't mean you can’t expect surprises from the band’s set. Expect Coachella to be in a state of ‘Hysteria’ by the time Saturday ends.

Queens Of The Stone Age

Queens of the Stone Age will warm up the stage for Muse on Saturday. The California natives released ‘ …Like Clockwork’ last year and are rounding up their performances in support of the record. They’re itching to get back into the studio soon so this might be your last chance in a while to see the mighty rockers and if you’ve never seen them before you're certainly in for a treat as QOTSA always manage to deliver, especially in front of a huge festival audience.

HaimCalifornian sisters Haim are heading to Coachella

Haim

Californian sisters Haim wont have to travel too far when they take the stage on Friday. Amazingly this will be the band’s debut performance at their home state festival. These girls really were on a roll in 2013 and its not surprising, Californian pop hadn't been this dreamy in decades. The sisters are expected to really shine in he California sound to be prepared to lie back and relax and take in the trio’s unique pop rock blend. Check out our album review of Days Are Gone.

Lorde

You’d be hard pressed to find anyone at the moment who hasn't been made aware of New Zealand born singer Lorde, she has been everywhere so far in 2014 and its not difficult to see why. The ‘Royals’ singer who won a Grammy for her debut album and is known for her dynamic stage presence. It will be interesting to see how her uniquely intense stage manner translates in front of festival audiences, but we’re betting she’ll do just fine when she takes to the stage on Saturday.

Pharrell Williams

Pharrell has certainly been a ‘Happy’ boy as of late, he featured on two of 2013’s biggest hits, ‘Blurred Lines’ and ‘Get Lucky’ as well as scooping an Oscar nomination for ‘Happy’. By the time he rolls into Coachella he’ll have released his new album ‘GIRL’. Playing on Saturday you can expect a high energy set from the hip hop icon as he’s sure to delver hit after hit to make sure everybody keeps dancing in the California heat.

Motorhead

British metal legends Motorhead will surely tear Coachella’s veritable roof off when they play on Sunday. California will never have experienced something so fast and loud as Lemmy and the boys. Expect to be head banging along to classics such as ‘Ace of Spades’ as Motorhead unleash their full throttle live set to the Coachella audience.

It’s the reunion everyone has been waiting for and finally after a 7 year hiatus Big Boi and Andre 3000 will finally perform together on stage again. They might have penciled in over 40 appearances together this year but Coachella is where it all kicks off. There’s no doubt that the ‘Hey Ya’ hit makers will have everyone on their feet dancing when they headline the opening night on Friday.
