The summer starts here.
It's always assumed that Summer is the season for music festivals, despite the fact that many continue well into the Fall and, indeed, begin very early in the Spring; SXSW, for example, has already been and gone. So what does April and May have in store ahead of the official Summer months?
Just a little reminder that music festival season is well under way, the Spring has fallen and with it come numerous fun events and all before we even get halfway into the year.
Snowbombing
Where: Mayrhofen, Austria
When: April 4th - April 9th 2016
Praise be the genius who decided to combine dance music with snow. If there was ever a place you could squeeze a ski trip in amongst shows from the likes of The Prodigy, Bastille and Fatboy Slim, it's this one.
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival
Where: Indio, California
When: April 15th - April 24th 2016
Sunshine, celebrity sightings and every genre of music you can think of. This year featuring The 1975, Foals, Ellie Goulding, Courtney Barnett, Zedd and ASAP Rocky. Boredom is prohibited.

New Orleans Jazz Festival
Where: New Orleans, Louisiana
When: April 22nd - May 1st 2016
There's always something special about celebrating a genre of music in its spiritual home and so New Orleans will host another round of legendary artists this year including Stevie Wonder, Pearl Jam, Neil Young + Promise of the Real, Paul Simon, Van Morrison and Elvis Costello & The Imposters.
The Great Escape Festival
Where: Brighton, UK
When: May 19th - May 21st 2016
Britain's answer to SXSW, this is the place to be to discover all the best up and coming talent all over the city. Frances, Holy Esque, Me And My Drummer, Porches, Jones and more will be showcasing their talent this Spring and it only costs £59.50 for three days.
Moogfest
Where: Durham, North Carolina
When: May 19th - May 22nd 2016
Named after the founding father of electronic music, this really is the place to enjoy such entertainment at its purist. As well as performances from Grimes, Odesza, Miike Snow and Gary Numan, the weekend also includes keynote conversations from pioneering inventors and entrepreneurs as well as workshops for the synth nerds out there.
Rock On The Range
Where: Columbus, Ohio
When: May 20th - May 22nd 2016
If you prefer guitars, this sold-out event is your best bet for the Spring as it delivers some awesome artists from the whole spectrum of rock. From Red Hot Chili Peppers to Disturbed, and from Bullet For My Valentine to Bring Me The Horizon, there's something for every rock fan here.
Hangout Festival
Where: Gulf Shores, Alabama
When: May 20th - May 22nd 2016
If you don't fancy the high-profile atmosphere of Coachella, Hangout matches much of the line-up but it's on a smaller scale and also introduces Florence + The Machine, Alabama Shakes, The Weeknd and more.
Rockavaria
Where: MÜnchen, Germany
When: May 27th - May 29th 2016
The German rock scene is legendary and so has too many festivals to name celebrating some of the finest in all areas of the genre. Rockavaria will deliver on the old school rock front with headliners Iggy Pop, Iron Maiden and Nightwish, as well as the likes of Garbage, Slayer and Anthrax.
BottleRock Napa Valley Music Festival

When: May 27th - May 29th 2016
Elsewhere, have some indie fun in the sun at BottleRock with its incredible VIP package, even better food and, of course, a line-up that's very difficult to beat; Stevie Wonder, Florence + The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Lumineers, Cold War Kids and Gogol Bordello to name but a few.
