Tyler Perry re-works and Ntozake Shange's 1975 choreopoem/play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf. The movie adaptation sees Shange's play given a new lease of life by Why Did I Get Married director/screenwriter Tyler Perry.
The Plot stays quite loyal to the original tale and follows the daily trials and tribulations of eight African American women who are known by a colour, 'Lady in Purple,' 'Lady in Red,' etc, each character tells a moving yet poetic story that reflects the real life events that affect so many people.
For Colored Girls once again sees Perry working with Janet Jackson.
