Pink Floyd Star Roger Waters Is Facing A Protest From Pro-israel Campaigners Who Plan To Demonstrate Outside His Gig In New York On Friday (30oct15).
The veteran rocker is set to play a show at the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor, but members of a Jewish human rights group, the Simon Wiesenthal Center, are calling for a boycott of the gig over Waters' campaigning on Middle East issues.
Waters often takes aim at artists prior to scheduled gigs in the Middle East and urges them to snub the nation as part of an ongoing cultural protest against the unrest between Israelis and Palestinians.
His most recent campaign was aimed at Bon Jovi, who he criticised for refusing to cancel a concert in Israel on 3 October (15).
Members of the Simon Wiesenthal Center have now urged gig-goers not to use their ticket to his show, and instead join demonstrators outside the venue.
A statement on the centre's website reads: "The Simon Wiesenthal Center... calls on New Yorkers to give Roger Waters the reception he deserves: an empty hall. We urge people who may have been unaware of his hate-filled boycott campaign and bought tickets for his performance, to vote with their feet and instead stand in solidarity - outside of the theater - with the innocent victims of terrorism in The Holy Land."
