Sir Paul McCartney's Photographer Daughter Mary Was Given The Honour Of Taking An Official Portrait Of British Royal Queen Elizabeth II To Mark The Day She Became Britain's Longest-serving Monarch.
On Wednesday (09Sep15), the 89 year old broke the record set by her great-great grandmother Queen Victoria by spending 63 years and 216 days on the throne.
To mark the occasion, a photograph of the royal reading through state papers at her desk in Buckingham Palace was published, and it has now emerged that MCCartney's daughter was behind the lens.
Mary MCCartney says, "Having grown up during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II it was a thrill to meet her and a very great privilege to take her photo this historic occasion. She is an inspirational person, a trailblazer and a beacon for womankind."
The Beatles rocker congratulated his daughter in a post on Twitter.com, writing, "Very proud of @maryamccartney What a way for me to celebrate the Queen's achievement. God bless us all #longestreign"
The monarch marked the milestone with a trip to Scotland to open a new railway with her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
