Ahead of the release of their highly anticipated ninth studio album Coldplay have dropped what is likely to be the biggest track from it, 'My Universe'. The collaboration with BTS, undoubtedly the biggest boy band in the world for some time now, is the second single from Coldplay's upcoming album release, 'Music Of The Spheres'.
'My Universe' follows Coldplay's lead single from 'Music Of The Spheres' - 'Higher Power', the first track released from the 12 track album. 'Higher Power' only managed to get to number 12 in the UK charts but it's odds on that 'My Universe' will out sell it by a massive margin given the popularity of the South Korean boy band sensation BTS.
After only three days on YouTube the lyric video had 29 million views and over four million likes whilst Spotify was registering over 16 million streams in the same time frame. The hook up between the likeable Brits and the sycophantically followed BTS has been a project of Coldplay's Chris Martin for some time with teasers being posted via social media at regular intervals to keep interest peaked.
'My Universe' is both a collaborative performance and a collaborative composition. The song was written by Chris Martin, Suga (aka Moon Yoon-gi), J-Hope (Jung Ho-seok), RM (Kim Nam-joon) and producers Oscar Holter and Rahko. To add to the frenzy surrounding the release BTS and Coldplay also dropped a mini-documentary about the making of the song, together with an acoustic and instrumental version of the track, to the delight of fans world-wide.
In the coming days there will no doubt be another video to accompany the song that is destined to top the charts and unseat Ed Sheeran from his throne.
Coldplay are set to release their new album, 'Music Of The Spheres' on 15th October via Parlophone Records.
