Cristiano Ronaldo wears brightly-coloured underwear to cheer himself up.

The Real Madrid soccer star - who has his own CR7 fashion and lifestyle brand - has confessed to donning vibrant boxer shorts whenever he feels down in order to lift his mood.

The 30-year-old sportsman added it doesn't matter what he's wearing on top of his fancy pants, as long as he has a splash of colour underneath.

He said: ''I really like wearing bright colours and bold styles for my underwear as it puts me in a good mood and regardless of the rest of my outfit, I know I'm wearing something colourful and stylish underneath.''

Cristiano - whose brand features formal footwear, shirts and contemporary underwear lines - also relies on a stylish pair of shoes from his collection to add the ''finishing touch'' to his look.

He said: ''I believe that footwear can completely change an outfit and gives the finishing touch to a look. I wear the luxury styles from my CR7 Footwear collection with tailored trousers and a slim fitted CR7 shirt.

''The perfect fitting shirt gives a man the confidence to become the best version of himself possible.''

The hunky star was also recently named in GQ magazine's Top 20 Most Stylish Men Alive list and features alongside rapper turned designer Kanye West, actor Ryan Gosling and One Direction's Harry Styles.
