Rapper Da Brat is facing a new legal battle after a juror in her assault lawsuit was deemed unfit to serve as he is not a U.S. citizen.
The hip-hop star, real name Shawntae Harris, was released from a three-year prison sentence for aggravated assault in 2011 stemming from an attack on a waitress at a club in Atlanta, Georgia in 2007.
Harris was accused of striking the woman over the head with a rum bottle, and the victim is now suing the star, but the case has been derailed after it emerged one of the jurors was not officially a U.S. citizen so should not have been sitting on the panel.
The judge overhearing the case at a court in Atlanta has since declared a mistrial, according to Tmz.com.
