Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer

After the release of The Force Awakens at the end of 2015, Disney and Lucas films didn't mess around delivering the general public its first announcement/teaser for The Last Jedi back at the start of 2016. Now, well over a year later, we finally get to see some proper footage from the upcoming movie.

Many of the key cast from Star Wars: The Force Awakens will feature in The Last Jedi including Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron and Adam Driver as Kylo Ren who famously slaughtered his much-loved father in a face to face battle that made for one of the most pivotal scenes in the history of Star Wars.

As ever with new Star Wars releases, the scrip and the story outline is one of Hollywood's most closely guarded secrets and few official details have been released to the public. We do know that the story will pick up where The Force Awakens ended with Rey going off into a mountainous setting to hunt down Luke Skywalker in a bid to train with him and learn his knowledge.

The Eagle Huntress Review

Excellent

Narrated by Daisy Ridley (The Force Awakens), this documentary is one of the most gripping adventure stories put on film this year, as cameras follow a group of remarkable real people. For his directing debut, British filmmaker Otto Bell takes the audience with him to a whole new world on the Mongolian steppe and introduces us to a young woman who we will never forget. The film is visually stunning, and tells a story that carries a proper emotional kick.

It centres on Aisholpan, a confident 13-year-old who simply doesn't buy into her culture's patriarchy. According to tradition, only males can hunt with eagles, but she has decided to be the next in her family's long line of champion hunters. Her father Nirgaiv recognises in her both the needed skill and tenacity, so he begins to train her. The first task is to capture her own eaglet, accomplished by scaling a precarious cliff and grabbing a baby from a nest as its angry mother circles above. Then Aisholpan must raise it herself, so that it learns to respond to her call. Her eaglet is so impressive that she enters the annual Eagle Hunter Festival competition as the first-ever female huntress and the youngest competitor ever. And the elders don't like this at all.

The film is edited with plenty of witty energy, as the elders continually talk about the things women can't do, while Aisholpan proves them wrong at every step. But the most impressive thing about this film is the way Bell and his crew capture everything on-camera, including the jaw-dropping sequence in which Aisholpan captures her eaglet. The competition is heart-pounding and emotional. And the final challenge for Aisholpan is to actually travel into the snowy wilderness and use her eagle to hunt down a fox. Only a few of these scenes seem somewhat re-staged for the cameras, but that doesn't make them any less exciting or moving.

The Eagle Huntress Trailer

The world occasionally spills forth a pioneer of change, someone out to change the course of history for the better. It's been a long-standing tradition of the Altai Mountains' wanderers in Mongolia to hunt with Golden Eagles, a practice passed from father to son over generations. But one girl changed all that when she took on the custom despite her gender, with a determination to become an expert in the field of eagle hunting. Aisholpan Nurgaiv is like any other 13-year-old girl in that she enjoys spending time with her friends and painting her nails, but she has a kind of strength and courage that most people can only dream of having.

Daisy Ridley Is Envious Of Felicity Jones

Daisy Ridley Felicity Jones

Daisy Ridley is slightly envious of Felicity Jones.

The 24-year-old actress has admitted she wants to be in Felicity's shoes and be on the 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' press tour, and although Daisy has admitted '''jealous' is the wrong word'' she does feel a little bit of the green-eyed monster creeping in that Felicity will be on the road for 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story'.

Speaking to Yahoo! Movies, the brunette beauty - who played Rey in the movie - said: ''It was weird, I've talked so much retrospectively about what was going on [in the lead-up to 'Force Awakens']. It was so odd to be reliving it. And she gets to go talk about this film that she's part of in all these amazing places.

Daisy Ridley Taking A Break From Instagram After Gun Violence Comments Backlash

Daisy Ridley

Star Wars heroine Daisy Ridley has temporarily quit Instagram after being on the receiving end of a backlash regarding comments on gun violence.

The trolling started on Sunday (July 31st) when Ridley attended the Teen Choice Awards, and shared her thoughts on gun violence after a tribute to the victims of gun violence was staged at the ceremony.

The 24 year old star wrote to her 2.3 million followers: “As I sat in the audience yesterday tears were streaming down my face at the tribute to those that have been lost to gun violence. I didn’t get a great picture of the incredible group that came on stage but they were so brave. It was a true moment of togetherness. We must #stoptheviolence.”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens received the most nominations for this year’s Mtv Movie Awards, after being selected in a total of 11 categories ahead of next month’s ceremony in Los Angeles.

Having been snubbed in all five of its categories at the Oscars recently, with no recognition in any of the acting categories or for Best Picture, the slightly more irreverent and pop culture-oriented MTV Movie Awards may see the record-breaking film get better luck.

For the majority of Star Wars fans, Episode 7 ended in just the right place - the first of the latest instalments to the franchise acted as a perfect precursor to a much bigger story. With that said, the loss of at least one of the most loved characters does mean that the story for Episode 8 must deliver a huge punch.

Star Wars Puts Ridley And Boyega In The Big Time

Daisy Ridley has mainly appeared in TV series, while John Boyega won awards for his first film role in Attack the Block (2011). But of course all of that changes this weekend.

Both have spoken about the lengthy Star Wars audition process. "Luckily for me J.J. Abrams was searching as far and wide as possible to cast the role," says Ridley, who plays scavenger-turned-hero Rey. "I thought I'd ruined the first few auditions, but he saw some potential I guess and I was allowed to come back and read again. From when I started auditioning two years ago until now it has been like a rollercoaster."

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens Review

Essential

Appealing both to a new generation of viewers and fans of the series since the beginning, this 30-years-later sequel to 1983's Return of the Jedi is a thrilling adventure. Filmmaker J.J. Abrams has managed to capture the tone of the original trilogy while telling a story about young, vibrant new characters whose connection to the overall saga deepens intriguingly as events unfurl.

Over the past three decades, the Empire has regrouped, forming the First Order to crush the Old Republic for good. And the plucky Rebellion hasn't offered much resistance since leader Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) disappeared. The Empire's top henchman Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) is searching for him just as diligently as the rebel leader General Leia (Carrie Fisher). But the real action is happening out of their grasp, as disaffected storm trooper Finn (John Boyega) teams up with rebel pilot Poe (Oscar Isaac) and then feisty scavenger Rey (Daisy Ridley) and expressive droid BB-8. Along the way, Han Solo and Chewbacca (Harrison Ford and Peter Mayhew) find themselves back in the fray. And everyone is startled when there's a strong stirring in the force.

Abrams beautifully recreates the scruffy, clanky mechanical atmosphere of the original trilogy, infusing scenes with witty banter and John William's soaring score to throw us right back into that familiar galaxy. This includes the saga's main themes: the temptation of power, how true heroism is often accidental, and the tension between parents and children. Combine this with a plot that propels itself with a series of unexpected adventures and battles, all centred on the characters, and the film taps strongly into the teen in all of us.

Carrie Fisher Talks Her Return As Princess Leia In 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

With the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens just weeks away, Carrie Fisher, aka Princess Leia, is getting reflective on her character’s history and how much things have changed since she first appeared on screen in 1977. But while Fisher might not agree with Leia ‘slave’ action figures being banned, she does admit that at times her character was too much of a damsel in distress in the original trilogy.

“I would have liked that lightsaber moment, very much yes. But there was no precedent (at the time),” Fisher told the New York Daily News when asked about Leia’s lack of heroic moment in the original films.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens TV Spot Trailer

After the victory of the Rebel Alliance over the Galactic Empire and subsequent demolition of The Death Star, you'd imaging life in a certain galaxy would be a little more subdued, but as we soon learn, life for Princess Leia, Luke and Hans wasn't exactly easy following their small yet essential victory.

30 years on and to most citizens - humanoid and alien - the stories of evil Lord Darth Vader and the Jedi Masters are just a legend, a story they tell their children that starts with the well-known overture: 'A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away'. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the seventh film in the Star Wars series and is an additional story to the original Star Wars outline.

The film follows a set of new characters as they join the battle and fight the evil forces once again threatening to destroy their galaxy. The Force Awakens was directed by Jj Abrams and sees a number of cast favourites return to the story including Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.

It's finally here! The teaser trailer you've all been waiting for: 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', and while it's not really giving anything away, it looks pretty intense. Vehicles have updated, the stormtroopers are looking shinier and R2D2 appears to have evolved.

Since George Lucas announced his retirement from the franchise, there's been all sorts of speculation about what differences could be expected from an updated sequel: though it's difficult to tell from the less than one and a half minute trailer. Everyone seems to be in a rush (especially, in a comical fashion, R2D2) and there's some brand new faces, who all look a little nervous as a voiceover booms out: 'There has been an awakening. Have you felt it? The dark side and the light.'

Star Wars Episode VII, We've Got The Cast, Now Lets Guess The Roles

Harrison Ford Adam Driver Jj Abrams Daisy Ridley

After months of rumors, speculation and a whole lot of nothing from Jj Abrams’s we were admittedly taken aback when the Star Wars Episode VII cast was officially unveiled yesterday. Alongside original stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker, Star Wars Episode VII will add seven new faces to the franchise. John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow have all been announced as joining the Star Wars cast, but sadly that’s where news ends as we don’t yet know who any of these actors will be playing. So armed with a leaked casting call list, lets try and work out who might be playing who in Episode VII.

Oscar IsaacOscar Isaac Is Set For Star Wars Episode 7

'Girls' actor Adam Driver was one of the early names we’d pretty much pegged as a definite for the Episode VII cast. As of now the general consensus seems to be that Driver will be having a villainous turn in Episode VII. More specifically his character is thought to be an intelligent and scheming Sith. Thirty year old Driver could fit the decryption of either the confident late twenty something male that producers were looking for, or the intellectual thirtysomething. Then there’s Oscar Issac, the 35 year old actor best known for Inside Llewyn Davis, was the last and ultimately correct casting rumour. Character actor Oscar is one who has definitely got us stumped, really he could turn his hand to any type of character, wether it be hero or villain. It will surely be interesting to see which role Issac is eventually announced in.
