Yahoo!’s planned foray into long form digital content was met with some confusion when the appointed executive producers of the new projects Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) and Mike Tollin (Smallville) made the announcement at Digital Content NewFronts back in April. However, after a Community revival was announced as one of the first projects, viewers’ doubts seem to have been assuaged.

Yahoo had the show's devoted fanbase in mind, when acquiring the rights.

The deal was announced earlier this week, with creator Dan Harmon saying in a statement: . "I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo. I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online."

'Community' Creator Dan Harmon Lists Some Shows To Fill The Void

Dan Harmon Chevy Chase

Dan Harmon took to Tumblr to address some distressed Tweets and give a bit of an insight into the cancellation of ‘Community’, which has been received by its fans like the news of a dead kitten. Harmon was also quick to point out some shows that could help fill the void in the post: "Sit back and treat yourself to some New Girl and Parks and Mindy and Brooklyn 99 and Eagleheart and Portlandia and have you seen Matt Berry's Toast of London? It's awesome," he said.

But the post is probably most notable for Harmon’s comments on the future of the show. He has been criticised for blocking ‘Community’ moving onto another network to work alongside with Sony, the primary broadcasters of the show. But he insist he doesn’t have the kind of power to sway that decision.

Dan Harmon Talks 'Community' Movie, And Season 6

Dan Harmon Donald Glover

'Community' hasn’t even been granted a 6th season yet, but that didn’t stop the show’s creator Dan Harmon was talking about the possibility of getting renewed at Wednesday’s Paleyfest in LA’s Dolby Theatre. He even talked about the possibility of a movie.

With the show reaching the end of season 5, Gillian Jacobs blurted out “it’s happening,” to yells from the crowd. “I think we know there’s going to be a sixth season since you guys will probably show up with pitchforks and torches,” followed Joel McHale, referencing the show’s notoriously passionate fan base.

NBC Expects 'Parks & Recreation' Renewal, With Other Shows Still In Limbo

NBC Amy Poehler Michael J Fox Jonathan Rhys Meyers Dan Harmon

NBC have teased at what shows they are due to renew and which they are likely to drop from their schedules at the TCA press tour this weekend. Given how vague the network executives were at the press meeting, we can't exactly confirm anything, but what we can say is that Parks & Recreation will more than likely be getting a seventh season, everything else might not be so lucky.

“I’m going out on a limb: Parks and Recreation is going to have a 7th season,” was the word of the NBC's entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt at the TCA event, giving the closest thing to a solid confirmation regarding the future of a NBC show. The only other shows that held a similar kind of certainty were two popular comedies: Parenthood and Community.

Donald Glover Is Afraid - Actor, Writer, Rapper Leaves Enigmatic Instagram Pics

Everyone seems to be in agreement about Donald Glover: he’s an immensely talented man, who can pretty much do anything he puts his mind to. Hopefully, he’s just put his mind to freaking out his core fan group, because he’s certainly achieved that with his set of eerie Instagram photos.

The pics uploaded to the photo-sharing social networking site depict a load of handwritten notes with some pretty serious stuff written on them. No need to call the police just yet, but we’d keep the phone somewhere nearby. "I'm afraid my parents won't live long enough to see my kids," said one note.

"Community's" Dan Harmon Issues The Most Thorough Apology You'll Ever Read To Season 4 Writers And Fans

Dan Harmon

Dan Harmon, the creator of the beloved “Community” is a frequent sufferer of foot-in-mouth syndrome. He does know how to make one heck of an apology though, which he’s had to do a lot of in recent years. His latest missive comes in the form of a Tumblr post, regarding Harmon’s most recent comments about Community’s fourth season. For those new to the story, Harmon got booted off the show after its third season because of disagreements with NBC, for which he later apologized (notice a pattern here?)

Community moved on without him, for a season, but both fans and critics were disappointed with the show’s direction, until Harmon was brought back for season five. Apparently, he wasn’t happy about the fourth season either, making some very explicit comments about it – namely that for him, watching that infamous fourth season was like "flipping through Instagram just watching your girlfriend blow everyone" and "being held down and watching your family get raped on a beach." Now, it’s easy to see why said comments got him in trouble with everyone – from the network and the “Community” team, to fans who objected against the writer trivializing a difficult topic like rape.

To his credit, though, Harmon apologized for all that and more on his Tumblr, pointing out that he was to blame for “not considering anyone’s feelings but his own” and for speaking before thinking: "After five seconds of thinking, I realized, as usual, that other people might be hurt, and that I really need to do this whole 'saying things and thinking about other people' cycle in a different order at some point," Harmon admitted. "I was very much not thinking about anyone but myself while watching that season, which was the crime [...] I was just indulging my petty feelings about being left out. It seemed kind of funny at the time because it seemed at the time like I was the only person with feelings."

Dan Harmon Back As 'Community' Show Runner. With A Beard. Maybe.

Dan Harmon NBC

It's official! Dan Harmon is returning as show runner on NBC favourite Community for the show's coming season. Sony confirmed the news early on Monday (June 10, 2013), with the network following it up with a press release a couple of hours later. Harmon fans will remember how he was forced out of his position last year after an alleged behind-the-scenes bust up.

At the time, Harmon was replaced by David Guarascio and Moses Port for the fourth season, though it was not a smooth transition. Essentially, Harmon has been rehired to bring that 'Community feeling' back to Community and he'll once again be acting as executive producer.

NBC and Sony also confirmed that writer and producer Chris McKenna would also be returning as executive producer following his departure last May. The fifth season of the comedy is currently in development and confirmation on premiere dates should arrive sooner rather than later with Harmon and McKenna back on board.

Series Creator Dan Harmon To Step Back Into "Community" College

Dan Harmon Chevy Chase Gillian Jacobs

Finally, after an outcry from Community fans, series creator Dan Harmon is returning to the show once again. Harmon exited, or rather, was fired from Community after season two, over some kind of disagreement. The exact events that led to his departure remain a mystery, but the whole story included an affected voicemail from Community actor Chevy Chase. Chase also left the show recently, in November 2012.

While the deal hasn’t been finalized, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Harmon would be returning on a two-year contract, along with writer and executive producer Chris McKenna, who exited the series in May 2012 after signing a two-year overall deal with Universal Television. Harmon replaces David Guarascio and Moses Port as the showrunner for the comedy, which has had a turbulent run, to say the least. Community got cancelled by NBC after just two seasons, but was then brought back after fans wrote angry emails and signed petitions, as netizens are so good at doing. The story was that the internal conflicts led to Harmon’s firing, but both critics and viewers have noticed that the series has lost something of its trademark sense of humor after the switch.

The news of Harmon's return comes after word leaked over Memorial Day weekend that the writer/executive producer was asked to return to Community during a taping of his Harmontown podcast. The deal hasn’t been formalized yet, but both Harmon and McKenna are expected to close in the next few days. One of the show’s stars, Gillian Jacobs, congratulated him over Twitter: "Welcome back, @danharmon! E Pluribus Anus!" Community reference, of course.

Dan Harmon Could Be Returning To Community: Six Seasons And A Movie Here We Come!

Dan Harmon Alison Brie Joel McHale

Amidst falling ratings and some pretty lousy episodes until around the halfway point of season four, it looks as though series creator Dan Harmon could be returning to Community to help pen the script for the fifth trip to Greendale Community College.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news on Monday, stating that Harmon is exploring the possibility of making a welcome return to the show he created. The show was commissioned for a fifth season the day after the final episode of season four aired, a series that was slow to start and had many fans and critics complaining that it had lost it's edge without Harmon at the helm. His replacements, David Guarascio and Moses Port, might still stop on if Harmon does decide to return to the Alison Brie and Joel McHale staring show, with the series creator joining the two as a co-writer or advisor.

Dan was fired from the show at the end of season third, following fallings out with officials at Sony Entertainment - who own network NBC - as well as cast and crew members, most famously Chevy Chase. Since his dismissal from the show he has been vocal on the subject when asked and during a radio interview with KCRW's 'The Business' last year, Harmon mentioned that he would only be willing to rejoin the show if Chase also came back. He also said, "Sony was always so bummed out about the way I wrote and thought, and they always fantasized about doing the show without me."

NBC Announces Shows For Early Renewal: NOT Community, To Fans' Disappointment

Dan Harmon

NBC has announced those shows it’ll bless with early renewal – including brand new dramas Chicago Fire and Revolution – but some tried and true NBC standbys like Community and Hannibal are still hanging in mid air. That’s because these types of cult shows – while always a success with their core audiences – don’t exactly pull in record numbers of viewers.

Hannibal for example, which details the exploits of everyone’s favorite cannibalistic sociopath, Hannibal Lector, gained early favor with both viewers and critics, but has since slipped on both counts. The network might decide to give the series a shot because there is certainly a lot of potential for future seasons there, but with numbers like last night’s record low of 2.4 million (according to Zap2It) it is easy to see why execs aren’t tripping over their feet to renew the show. We know the genre has potential – look at Dexter’s eight season run. The writers for Hannibal just need to figure out that missing je ne sais quoi.

Then there’s Community. Ah, what do we even say about Community? Much loved by its (hard)core fans, the series has been on air for two whole seasons after unprecedented amounts of audience support prompted NBC to bring it back from an abrupt cancellation. However, after recent events (read: creator Dan Harmon’s booting off the writing team), everyone’s become a bit disillusioned with the quirky and at times plain weird charm of the show. Still, there is a chance: namely, that after the cancellation of shows like 30 Rock, NBC will need something to fill that conspicuously empty comedy slot on its roster. Hey, NBC, look, it’s Community! That’s a comedy! You should renew that one. It’s a familiar one too, and the network is probably aware that it’s not a good idea to have all new comedy series in November. Yes, it would be a victory by default, if Community returns, but a victory none the less.

The Fourth (And Last?) Season Of Community Set To Hit The Airwaves!

Joel McHale Dan Harmon Chevy Chase

Cult comedy series Community returns to NBC this week and it's likely the eccentric students and staff of Greendale Community College will be enjoying their final season on screen. Network bosses are refusing to rule out a fifth series just yet, though industry insiders suggest season four will be the final bow.

A new trailer for season four hit the web this week and it certainly appears as though the cast are pulling out all the stops to go out with a bang! In the clip - which spoofs The Hunger Games - a foreboding voiceover announces "Experience the thrills, unravel the mystery, feel the chills, witness the redemption, share the hope, share the nostalgia, taste the tears, travel through time, forget the past, Community returns! Thursday's on NBC. Community! Thursday's 8pm, starting February 7th!" The promo also promises plenty of celebrity cameos, including Giancarlo Esposito returning as Pierce's half-brother, and a revisiting of much of last season's side-plots and incidents.

Community Season 4 Lands Tonight... Finally

Dan Harmon

It has been, perhaps, the most well-documented meltdown in the history of meltdowns, but for better or for worse, Community returns tonight with its season 4 premiere, 'History 101'.

The biggest controversy surrounding the cult comedy was Dan Harman's extraction from it. Harman was attributed with creating the show's wacky style and original plotlines - attributes that first attracted a loyal following. Another of the show's staples, Megan Ganz - one of the key writers - has also gone. It hasn't gone by without controversy, though, as a large section of fans question whether the show can be the same without its original show runner and best writer.

Another change to the show heralds a dramatic drop in output. While seasons 1-3 of Community contained 23 fun-filled episodes, season 4 will only comprise 13, including three holiday specials (Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas), which, considering the delay to the show, will air in springtime. Doh!

College Comedy 'Community' Set To Return Next February

Joel McHale Dan Harmon Gillian Jacobs

Fans of the instant cult hit Community were distraught last month when the return of the show was put back indefinitely. In the largely uncertain world of television, many questioned whether the show would return at all. However, NBC has now confirmed that the comedy, set around a mishmash of students in a community college, will be returning to its regular Thursday time slot next February. It was created by Dan Harmon and stars Joel McHale and Gillian Jacobs.

Fingers crossed this second start date for the fourth season wont be pulled as it was from its original October start date. Its slot on Thursdays will be replacing 30 Rock, which, by then, will have ended its final series. Sob. The first episode will air on February 7th, the news of which comes amid news about plenty of other new and returning comedies. As HitFix says 1600 Penn will be premiering in january- a new comedy set in the White House and starring Bill Pullman, Jenna Elfman and Josh Gad. Plus, 'Up All Night' which is currently airing will be cut midseason and returning having been revamped and 'redveloped as a multi-camera comedy'. Time will tell if those changes will help it succeed.

The Office spinoff 'The Farm' has this week been cancelled, but The X-Factor, Arrow and Homelands have all been set for renewal.

Chevy Chase Rant: Did It Rival Christian Bale's On Set Explosion?

Chevy Chase Donald Glover Christian Bale Dan Harmon

Chevy Chase's rant on the set of NBC comedy 'Community' briefly halted production on the show on Friday (October 19, 2012), according to TVLine.com. Multiple sources confirm that Chase dropped the N-word in the presence of African-American co-stars Yvette Nicole Brown and Donald Glover.

An insider reveals how Chevy was struggling with his character's dialogue and - in a moment of sheer frustration - uttered the word. The slur was not thought to be directed at Brown or Glover, though it capped an unhappy filming schedule for the veteran comedian who is thought to be angry at the increasingly dark direction of his character Pierce Hawthorne. According to TMZ.com, Chase yelled out something along the lines of, "What's next? Am I gonna say the word ni**er?"A source told the Hollywood Reporter that Chase apologized immediately to the cast and crew of Community. The outburst comes just months after Chase blasted the show's creator Dan Harmon in a scathing voicemail message, calling him a "goddamn bad writer," before yelling, "Your writing is getting worse and worse."

So on reflection, Chase's outbursts ranks around 7/10 on the on-set-outburst-o-meter. Christian Bale's famous Terminator rant will forever remain the king. "Do you want me to go f*cking trash your lights? Do you want me to f*cking trash them? Then why are you trashing my scene? You do it one more f*cking time and I ain't walking on this set if you're still hired. I'm f*cking serious."

Community's Hiatus, Does This Mark The End?

Dan Harmon

The critics are split regarding whether the indefinite hiatus of NBC's flagging comedy 'Community' is a good or a bad sign. Pulled just 11 days before season four was set to premiere, fans and cast alike are left a little bemused.

In a statement from NBC they cite “concentrat[ing] promotional strength on [their] new NBC shows that are scheduled Monday through Wednesday” as the reason for the shock hiatus. They continue, saying “without having to launch these comedies on a Friday at this time, we can keep our promotion focused earlier in the week – plus we will have both comedies [Community and Whitney] in our back pocket if we need to make schedule changes”.

Splitsinsider.com stays positive in regard to the comedy beloved by many, saying “While it's sad we'll have to wait a while longer to catch the new season of Community... it actually may benefit the shows by keeping them out of the 'Friday night death slot', which has been a notoriously difficult day to air new shows for decades.”

Monster House Review

Excellent

Every perfect and picturesque neighborhood - at least in the movies - has one: that creepy old house that fuels the nightmares and serves as the centerpiece of the double-dog dares for the local kids.

DJ (Mitchel Musso) has made the house his mission. He's set his bedroom up as home base to watch old Mr. Nebbercracker across the street, an irate curmudgeon (voiced by Steve Buscemi) who steals any balls or bikes that find their way into his yard, chases after kids to keep off his lawn, and, presumably, thinks the music kids listen to today is nothing but noise. Within an hour of DJ's parents leaving for the weekend, Nebbercracker is dead (from a heart attack during an apoplectic moment at finding DJ on his lawn) and DJ is finding out that the old coot might not have been the most dangerous part of the creepy old house, because the house itself is starting to... eat people.
