'Dancing With The Stars' contestant J.R. Martinez impressed the judges to receive perfect scores on both of his performances last night (07.11.11).

The Iraq war veteran and his professional partner Karina Smirnoff were awarded the first full 30 points after their waltz brought the entire audience to its feet.

Judge Bruno Tonioli said: "It was like a musical Valentine card. You dance with your heart on your sleeve. It was divine."

Their second performance - a jive which they had just 20 minutes to prepare - was equally successful.

Len Goodman - who is also joined on the panel by Carrie Ann Inaba - said: "Now you've got the X-factor and the feel-good factor mixed together, and you come out here with the most fantastic jive."

Meanwhile, Ricki Lake and her dance partner Derek Hough were a close second with 28 points for their first round waltz and 24 for the jive, although the former talk show host apologised for "not doing the best" she could have.

Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy tied with Ricki and Derek by getting 27 points for a first-round quickstep and were awarded 25 points from the judges for their second round performance.

Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke were close behind with scores of 27 and 24 but under-fire Nancy Grace's tango with Tristan McManus only received 24 points, while their jive - which included a performance-ending cartwheel - only scored 20 points.
