The divorce is final and it was a clean break.
Danica Patrick is officially a single lady. Well, to be more accurate, she is an unmarried woman. The NASCAR racer finally had her divorce from husband of seven years Paul Hospenthal finalised. The pair got married back in 2005, the same year that Patrick became the fourth woman to compete in the Indy 500. The announcement that the union was ending came late last year, when Patrick said in a Facebook post: "I am sad to inform my fans that after seven years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage. This isn't easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward."
There isn’t much to report on this one really, as according to Us Magazine, the divorce will be a clean one – pre-nupt and all. The couple do not have any children and Danica will reportedly cover the court costs. We’re witnessing that ever so rare of events – a civil celebrity divorce. Now Patrick will be free to look ahead in her current relationship with Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. – another competitor on the stock car circuit. Or maybe she’ll just enjoy her newly acquired freedom for a while.
Even after the split, Patrick continues to speak highly of her ex.

50 Cent gets shut down by Fox's Erin Andrews after he tries to snatch a kiss from her during the Daytona 500.
Well, this is awkward. At yesterday's (Feb 24) Daytona 500 race rapper 50 Cent was given the cold shoulder by Fox Sport correspondent Erin Andrew after the 'In Da Club' hit-maker tried to swoop in for a kiss.
Andrews was scouring the pits for speedracer Danica Patrick after the driver had competed in her first ever Daytona 500, but whilst she was looking for the speed queen she coincidentally bumped into Fiddy, and thats when things got a whole lot more awkward (and hilarious).
The rapper immediately went in for a smooch when he was found lurking, but luckily Andrews was too quick for him and managed to get away with just a peck on the cheek. The presenter politely asked him what he was doing there, to which he responded 'I'm enjoying myself, I'm enjoying all the festivities.' Whilst he was answering the question towards the camera, Andrews saw her moment to escape and she made a dash to the side to hopefully find Danica at last, only to end up being trailed by the rap star.
50 Cent tried to land a kiss on Erin Andrews at the Daytona 500... it made for an awkward situation
Video footage of that awkward-as-hell kiss between 50 Cent, Erin Andrews has made its way online, prompting 50 Cent to defend himself on Twitter by saying “Hey I wanted to kiss her so I did.” Someone needs to tell Fiddy that that isn’t really how it works, but in the meantime, it’s worth checking out the biggest car-crash moment of Saturday’s Daytona 500, courtesy of the rapper and FOX’s sports reporter Erin Andrews.
As Erin made her way through the crowds, desperately trying to locate the driver Danica Patrick, she spotted 50 Cent in amongst the throng. Danica Patrick had made history by becoming the first female driver to win a Sprint Cup series pole and finished eighth overall, against all expectations. 50 Cent was just… there. Watching. Nonetheless, when Erin pointed him out to the crowd, 50 Cent decided to go in for a kiss, on camera. Right in the middle of all the actin. What ensued was a cringe-worthy battle of wills as Fiddy tried to plant a kiss on Andrews’ lips, as she desperately tried to dodge that outcome. 50 Cent failed to land the kiss on her mouth and seemed to settle for “ok, anywhere on her head will do,” and managed an awkward peck on the cheek.
As Erin headed off into the crowd to locate Danica Patrick, 50 Cent followed her. Now, in amongst the hustle and bustle of the crowd at the Daytona 500, it was hard to hear everything that Andrews said… but we’re pretty sure she didn’t invite Fiddy to follow her. Creepy, Fiddy. Pretty creepy. And did we mention ‘awkward?’

It’s the end of the road for NASCAR driver Danica Patrick and her husband Paul Hospenthal as, after seven years, the motor racer has filed for divorce.
"My marriage is irretrievably broken and there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation," she said in the filing, reports The Los Angeles Times. The divorce was filed on January 3, with Hospenthal given a right of response – something that he has not done yet. According to court documents, Patrick and Hospenthal had a prenuptial agreement and there will be no alimony paid.
"My spouse and I did acquire community property during our marriage, and it will be divided as indicated on a Settlement Agreement which will be submitted to the court at a later date," Patrick said. She also let her fans know of the split on her Facebook page, writing "I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage. This isn't easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward." The most successful woman in the history of American motor racing, she is the only female to have won a race in the IndyCar series and holds the highest position finished by a woman in the Indianapolis 500, coming third in 2009.
