Australian rocker Daniel Johns has been fined and banned from the road after pleading guilty to a drink driving charge.

The former Silverchair frontman admitted the offence in November (14), just weeks after his arrest in New South Wales on 28 October (14), and he returned to court in Newcastle, Australia on Thursday (26Feb15) to receive his punishment.

He was fined $693 (£433) and banned from driving for 14 weeks.

Johns, 35, was caught with more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his body and Magistrate David Day told the star, "With that reading, he should not have driven because he must have felt affected by drink. If he didn't feel affected then he was a hardened drinker, but at his age I would be surprised if that's the case."
