Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and attended a short unveiling ceremony in Los Angeles yesterday.

The British star began his acting career 15 years ago when he appeared at the age of 11 in the first Potter movie The Philosopher’s Stone, and proceeded to feature in all of the seven sequels alongside co-stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

Now 26 years old, and having branched out in his screen and stage career with a number of very different projects since the end of the movie series that made him internationally famous, such as The Woman In Black, Kill Your Darlings, Trainwreck and What If, Radcliffe turned out in a smart checked suit at the ceremony outside the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles on Thursday (November 12th).

“It's really an incredible honour,” he told Variety. “We (Brits) have a national embarrassment about people saying nice things about us, so I was taken aback at first but then I had a real sense of gratitude.”

“Only about 20% of people who work in film and television end up on the Walk Of Fame. It's kind of amazing. I don't know if they remove these things, but no matter how badly I mess up, they can't remove it!”

It was the 2,565th star to be laid down on the famous sidewalk. His career may have been quite short so far, but think about how many child stars make the successful transition to a respected career as an adult. Not many at all.

Radcliffe was also asked about J.K. Rowling’s recent revelation that the American term for ‘muggle’ is different to the English one, with the phrase ‘no maj’ set to appear in the new book ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’.

“I have no strong opinions about this,” Daniel said, “we have different words in England, so it makes perfect sense that there should be a different word for it in America.”
