Daniel Radcliffe has landed the role of beat poet Allen Ginsberg in the forthcoming independent movie 'Kill Your Darlings', according to the Hollywood Reporter. The former Harry Potter star will move onto the project after completing promotional work on the horror flick 'The Woman in Black'.
Casting director Laura Rosenthal confirmed the news on Tuesday (24 January 2012), saying Radcliffe will take his place in the cast alongside Elizabeth Olsen, DANE DEHANN and Jack Huston. The actor has reportedly been in talks about the project since last fall, but has avoided confirming his participation until now. Radcliffe recently spoke enthusiastically about the possibility of playing Ginsberg to MTV News, saying, "It's one of the things that's on the table absolutely. It would be amazing and I'm very, very enthused for that script and that young director, [John Krokidas]". Described as a 'thriller', 'Kill Your Darlings' will focus on a murder in 1944 that draws together the famous beat poets of the day, including Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs. It is due into theatres sometime in 2013 and is likely to differ hugely from the recent movie 'Howl' in which Hollywood star James Franco played Ginsberg.
Radcliffe recently ended his 10-month run playing J. Pierrepont Finch in the Broadway show 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying'.
